At day care we used to pop in something that would clang around (rice, bells, corks) and tape the end up, you can decorate them with some nice contact and use them for rolling along the floor. Also used them just decorated with some contact as a building thing. There great for storing stuff as there air tight. If I FF I would use them to store DS art stuff for sure!
my DH has sooooo many of them in his shed, and they are filled with different things, screws, etc.
I decorated one and cut a slot in the lid and it is hidden in my cupboard for my change, as it mostly goes to kids money boxes.
I have also decorated a few, and planted some plants in them, the type of plants I have in mine are all the flowing and dnagly type, so you cant see enough of the tin to know it is a formula tin,
And we have a fair few friends who are smokers, so at bbqs or parties I put them down as ash trays.

would never have thought to use them as a plant pot, great idea. storage is also good and as a noise making toy too. i am going to have to get creative this weekend. any other ideas???
DH also uses them in the shed, mostly to collect oil as they are the perfect size to fit under his motorbike:rolleyes:
I have heard of someone who punched some holes in the sides and decorated the outside then used it as a candle holder - sounds nice.
Trouble - love your pot plant idea - you could make a mini vege or herb garden with them:thumbsup:

i use to.. [with other bubs- still do with other tins too] make them into drums for DS1.. drumming freak.
you can leave some empty upside down, or right-way-up with contact over the top for a skin.. you can make all different sounds..:)

Another one who's DH uses them in the shed
Give them to my FIL. He is a mechanic so uses them at work. Whatever he doesnt want he gives to next door a smash repair place for screws etc..
I have filled two with sand to weigh them down and use them to prop my babygates open once DD has gone to bed for the night so that i don't have to open then all the time to get into the kitchen and lounge room.
Also given them to my brother who is a teacher and the kids decorate them and use them to store pencils and crayons etc in.
I cover them with contact (like we used for schoolbooks) and then use for sewing bits and pieces, buttons, pencils, sock holder for DH.
I also find them great for storing seeds for gardening (in separate labelled packets).
I love the garden pot idea! I'll be using that one.
I decorated one and cut a slot in the lid and it is hidden in my cupboard for my change, as it mostly goes to kids money boxes.
great idea!! I'll be doing that.. and I'm going to superglue the top on so that I can only get it out by breaking the lid once it's full... forced saving! already imagining how much cash will be in there once it's full - and what I'll spend it on!! :D

Fill with kitty litter to absorb oil, instead of putting the oil down the sink
Use a few for stuff in the shed
Crayons, pencils & small toy storage

Thanks everyone, you are all so creative. I am going to make some pots for plants, tea lights, money boxs, storage jars (covered with contact) and some toys for DD (even though she is too young to use them for now:)) That should use some of them up but going through at least 1 tin a week i have quite a few

We used them in the garage for screws and odd bits and pieces. I have spray painted them and used as pot plants, looks great in bright colours  I ppunched a few holes in the bottom of mine though because the ones without drainage didnt thrive as well.
We have used them as drums for the kids too. I have also made a 'receipt tin'too, i always need somewhere to stash receipts just in case a product needs to be returned :)
