Hello, just curiuos to find out how often all your three month olds feed and how much they are taking, my daughter is on 6 or 7 150 ml feeds per day ............she seems very content but is feeding every 2.5 hrs through the day, but is sleeping 9 hrs straight through the night ( im not complaining!!!!!!!!!) Any tips on stretching out feeds Thanks
hi my baby is 4 1/2 months now but ws doin the same thing at 3months, i have just started him on some solids and that has stretched them out
Hi - my DS is 3 1/2 months and he has 4-5 feeds per day of around 240 mls. He sleeps about 10 or 11 hours at night (7pm to 5 or 6am). He has only started doing this in the last month or so - before that it was 7 feeds of 180 mls every 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
One technique I read about and tried was slowly stretching out the interval between feeds by 10 minutes at a time by distracting him when he started getting grizzly. Didn't work for me but my DS is pretty single-minded when it comes to eating and won't be placated with anything else.
He changed practically overnight of his own accord - changing to a faster flowing teat seemed to help because he was able to drink faster and therefore consume more at each feed.
Hope things get better soon - from what I've heard they usually have a breakthrough around this age so I'm sure it won't be long before it improves.

I would at this age still be going with what bubs wants.
I had a bubba who fed every 2hrs at this age & basically we treated it as though i was bf because if i were i would be demand feeding so thats what we did just with a bottle !
If bubs is sleeping that long overnite also thats why she will want so much through the day as she isnt getting anything for 9hrs which is a long stretch at that age.
Try to stick with what your doing especially while it what bubs wants it will settle down soon enough your doing a great job :hugs:

Hello,
I am also curious do any of you ladies actually record the amount of milk your babies are consuming at each feed and the time of each feed for your own piece of mind & write it down?
I have been doing this for my 3mth old son since birth. But DH thinks there is something wrong with me for wanting to do this(another argument tonight over it!) and his work colleagues all agree with him what am I doing this for. I mainly monitor because I can't remember when the last feed was and to know whether he is getting enough or exceeding is approximate quota.
The quota info is provided in our Qld Health Record books explaining
weight x 150mls for birth - 3mth, then from 3mths-6mths reduces to approx
120mls x weight. I understand some days baby may not eat as much but I like to know if he's getting there. I also know baby will tell me when he is hungry and when I weigh him whether he is increasing weight.
A naturopath also said to me that it was better to under feed than to over feed a baby for their digestive system.
I like to know that my behaviour isn't really abnormal and other mum's like to keep track of the bottle feeding for the bubs.
Thanks

I kept a diary for feeds and amounts ( even when meds were given) till my DS was about 5 months. But mine was more to figure out if there were any patterns or signs leading to answers as to why he had feeding issues.
Since my DS has settled ( reflux med. and intolerances addressed), i've no longer kept the diary.
It was handing to use when visiting the Dr.s.

If thats what works for you & you feel happy doing it then do it !
I wasnt really worried about writing anything down because as i said i demand fed bubs just as i would have if he was bf. My bub also drank more than the average because he was such a large bub. You cant over feed a baby trust me if you were over feeding him he would either refuse the bottle or throw it up. I wore a few mls a couple of times thinking my bubs was still hungry to which he showed me he knew best lol ! So i wouldnt really go with under feeding your little guy because this may make him unsettled or the likes. Give him what he wants ! He is so little soon enough when he gets to the same age as my little monster he will go a day just having one bottle & a few mouthfuls of food leaving you exasperated at his lack of hunger ! They know what they are doing so have faith in yourself & your little one :hugs:
