Our 5 year old was done 8 days ago with the plastibell due to medical reasons. I am getting anxious for it to fall off. Even though from what I have read it can take up to 10 days. Would be interested to hear of others in the same situation, did your older child take longer for it to fall off? And what are the signs it is going to fall off soon! I was really hoping he would be one the ones where it falls off in 4 days!

Hi

Wickipedea says 3 - 7 days for infants. Maybe because he's older the skin is a little thicker? Hopefully it will come off soon without a problem.

:hugs:

How did it all go? My 5 year old son may have to have this done due to medical reasons too so I am curious about how it all went.

hi
It took 11 days to fall off. It hung by a bit of skin for the last two days which was a bit uncomfortable for my son. On the last day we played outside and did lots of running around to take his mind of it and dislodge it. All is well now, it was a success. It can look a bit scary during the week after it is done. I live a fair way away from Brisbane so ended up emailing pictures to the surgery when I was concerned about swelling etc. He pretty much needed pain relief night and day for the whole 11 days.(painstop) And it was painful for him to urinate for the first 72 hours. the first night he could only wee while in the bath.I am happy to answer any other questions you might have. My son had half his foreskin attached and the other unattached. He was getting topical infections every two weeks. We tried steroid cream first which in some cases can make the foreskin detach. We were told it would take a week, but tried it for several to keep Grandma happy. In the end overuse of the steroid cream irritated the head of the penis. Hope this helps!
