View Full Version : Mums in Northern Suburbs Sydney
Are there any new mums foreign to Sydney living in the Northshore (Lower) area interested in starting a mothers coffee/park/walk group to meet once a week?
There are lots of individual nationality mother's group but not an international group.
I am interested in starting an "(International) mums without families in Sydney" mothers group.
Cheers!
Marina :)
Sure!
So far its just the two of us :yelclap:
can I join too! I am from the UK and live in Manly - not quite the lower north shore, but I can drive! :)
Hey! Im not quite lower north shore either, Im in Castle Hill but Im a Kiwi, DH is Welsh and we have no family here either so it would be great to get a good support network of people in similar situations.
Let's find a common time/day we can meet.
This is my email address: marina.winkler@gmail.com or if you are on msn spockey@hotmail.com
All international mums without families who are willing to commute to the Northshore(Lower) area are welcome!!!
*cough* what is the "Lower North Shore" exactly? :o
I live in the City, so not North Shore at all but I can hop (or waddle) onto a train if need be.
I'm also technically not a mum yet, just an incubator who's getting her kidneys kicked to a pulp as she types.
My email is amruss@bigpond.net.au or IM amrussell2@hotmail.com.
My best days are Wed & Thu.
DS is in daycare Mon & Fri (my client meeting days :yelclap: ) and playgroup Tue.
Monday, Tuesday & Thursday are good days for me.
Beany.... Welcome! What's your good waddle day? We'll try to find a train friendly location for everyone.
Any suggestions?
This is mine:- There is a nice cafe at Stanton Library in North Sydney... Jagos and a park just next to it if the kids are coming along. North Sydney station is round the corner. Or we could meet in the city... QVB has a couple of good cafes or the Botanic Gardens or Circular Quay. Crow's Nest, Cremorne and Neutral Bay all have good cafes too. I am willing to commute too... so no dramas on my part.
Maybe I should start a new thread for mothers interested in joining us even if they arent from the Northern Suburbs :)
Good waddle days for me ... Wednesdays and Fridays are usually free, though Mondays and Tuesdays before 3pm are doable, too :)
I vote CBD for sheer laziness on my part - within waddling distance for me and makes pretty much any day (before 4pm) doable.

Hi all,
Mind if I join in? I am mum to 3 month old Ruby and live in Manly. I'm originally from the UK and think the idea of an International Mums Group sounds like fun! I'm just getting the hang of this online chat stuff........!?
Just going to work on my signature......

Jo:wave:

Hope to hear from other members.
Hello everyone! I see this has died off a bit, but if there's a group formed, I'd like in on it too! :D I'm from the US with an Aussie husband. It would be really nice to meet a few other mums in the same situation as me! :)

Hi, I just wanted to know if the international mothers group was up and running. I'm a South African, and have a 6 month old. We live on the lower north shore. If you have a set up a group and are keen on new moms joining, we'd love to find out when and where you meet.

Hi,
I had a little girl. She is 7 months old now.
It seems like it is rather late to try to pick this up but is there anyone out there still interested in getting together? I would love to meet some new mums.
I'm still up for meeting other mums! This week is bad for me since DH needs the car, but I'm all about getting out next week if anyone is interested. Going a littel stir crazy here. :)

Hi I have just seen joined this site and saw the latest post. I live near north sydney and have a 4 week old baby girl. I was originally from wimbledon and would be keen to meet up with other UK/expat mums in the area, is there a group that still meets or should we start a new one?

Hi. I've recently moved to Perth with my husband and 9 month old son and am looking for a mums group to join - or maybe start one up...??
We are in Clarkson at the moment so would love to meet anybody within about a 15/20min drive or closer with girls or boys. Could meet for coffee or play or picnic in the park. :flowerz:

Hi Louiseclaire! I had no response yet to my post so not sure if the group still meets but I would be happy to meet you, I am French (before was living in London and then Shanghai) and live in neutral bay. Let me know if u would like to meet! For the moment I have family visiting from France until 21st Jan so would be easier for me to meet after that date. Speak to u soon!
Hi,
I sent Louise a mail, but meant to put it on the forum!
I am 7 months pregnant and living in Cremorne, just moved here from London and would love to meet up with other mums locally in preparation for when my one arrives...
Let me know if you meet, would be great to join you.

Friday 30th Jan at 10:30 is perfect for me. [text removed by moderator] - Stephanie
Ladies could you please make all final arrangements like location etc via private messaging. Its not safe to have the date, location and time of a meet on the open forum. :)
littleshrimp had the location removed from her post if people would like to PM her.
Hi All
Sounds good to me see you there

Hi, I'm Dutch, my husband is English, and we just moved to Sydney this week. We moved from Amsterdam to Melbourne last year, where we had our son - 8 months tomorrow - and have now been transferred to Sydney. I would love to join you if that's ok? I really want to meet other expat mums/mums-to-be.
Hi Ladies
Just thought i would check to see who was still on for the meet xx

Hi everyone
I'll be a first time mum in the next couple of weeks and would like to join this mothers group if you are still meeting regularly (I noticed that the last post for this thread was made in late Jan this year).
If you are still meeting, could you please send me an email and let me know the details?
Thanks!
Hi guys,
We have a playgroup on Monday mornings in Crows Nest...It appears to have a fair few expat mums in it, so thought I would drop in a line...
Jaynett & DutchInOz have come before, but I just came across this thread.
PM me if you want the details!!!
Hope you can come!!!

Hi Marina,
What a great idea! I am one of those international people without family in Aus and live in the Lower North Shore. The only thing is that I am expecting my bundle of joy in Dec. Please let me know where and when you meet, I'd love to join you!
Take care,
Evi

Hello Everyone,
Is your group still open to new members? Our baby is due in December and I would love to join your group for friendship and support. Please let me know any details of group get together, I live in Neutral Bay and I would love to join.
Rani
Hi Everyone,
Does this group still operate? I haven't heard anything since I wrote in May. I think Marina is now in Asia. If there are people interested in meeting like Rani above let's start a new group. Please let me know if you are interested in joining. My mob is 0409309427. Rani, I'd be happy if you call me in the meantime.
Evi
Hi girls...we do still meet! 12-2pm Mondays! If you don't know where, just PM me!!! It's in Crows Nest.

Hello
I'm Tracy and am from the UK. I've been in Sydney for 10 years. My DH is from NZ. I live in Warriewood (northern beaches).
If you ladies still meet regularly, I'd love to join in. I'm not able to attend the group until I leave work in late December, our baby is due in late Jan.
Thanks
Hi - I'm really interested in joining this group - if it still meets!
I'm not an expat, I'm originally from Sydney, but we've just returned from living in Japan for five years. I had my children overseas so I feel like a bit of a fish-out-of-water here as I have no experience being a mother in Sydney and I know no other mothers.
My kids are 3 and 15 months, and we are in Pymble. If you guys still meet, please let me know - I'd love to meet up.

Hi,
I am really interested in meeting other moms with international backgrounds as well. I am German, my husband is American and we moved to Sydney in November 2009. Our sons are 3 years and 4 weeks old (the older one born in Paris, the younger one here in Sydney). Do you still meet and if so, then when and where?
Would love to join!
