All the good GPs in Wollongong have closed books from my experience. Get her to ring groupcare midwifrey TODAY if she is giving birth in the public system. Its a limited numbers thing! If she wants her choice of OB and is going private I recommend the same actually

i have heard that the public system down there is at breaking point. so sad for everyone really.
i suggested and i think she is going to since she will be moving up here before the birth to actually book into campbelltown. there is not point in getting lost in the illawarra system if she does not need to be.
she was just after a good GP that will explain things and one that if she needs to quickly get into if something is up. her currant GP down there is a joke . she is thinking of coming back up here to her old GP if she cant find one down there but she kida wanted one that wont take 45min to drive too
thanks for that 3blueones, how far awway is dapto from wollongong (she lives down the road from the shops in w'gong)
Hi There
:yelclap:Congrats to ur BF!
I FINALLY found a GREAT GP in the Wollongong Medical centre.
I saw about 6 different doctors in there before i found out i was pregnant and my gp was the only one who wanted to venture into WHY i wasnt getting my AF when all the pg tsts came back Neg!
Her name is Dr Saralynne Johnstone and you have to ask for her when u go in (it is first in first served basis), also, she has a set roster and am certain she works wednesdays till 6 but not Tuesdays - get ur BF to call to make sure she is there before she goes in.
She got me into the Antenatal clinic within 3wks at wollongong hospy and everything, she is just a gem :)
Oh i just saw ur friend lives down the road from the shops - the WMC is almost next to subway on Crown st (near the shops)
Dapto is about 20 minutes or so south of Wollongong, and I also go to that medical centre, though I see Dr. Chester. The only problem with the medical centre there is that you can't make appointments and may have to wait hours from when you arrive and put your medicare card in to when you actually see the doctor. The only consolation is that the shops are just over the road, so you can usually kill time okay.
There is a new medical centre on Crown St in Wollongong (So that sounds pretty close to your friend) and they are taking new patients. I don't really know how god they are, but it might be worth looking into.
Their website is:

Hi SorenLorenson - takes me 10-15 mins to get to wollongong from Dapto. And yea the waiting times can be long at the medical centre, but the mall is just across the road:thumbsup:

I go to Dr Ooi at the family medical practice Dapto (across from the leagues club).
He looks after all the prenatal, but be prepared to wait a while.
Dapto's popular with the Dr's!!! :)
