i had gd with my first baby, just wondering should i expect to get it the next time around and anyother babies after that?.
I had a friend with it and I know she was told by her doctor she was at a higher risk of it the second time round.

You do have an increased risk of getting it again!
I had it with my first child and required insulin. I had it with my second child too, but didn't require insulin.
I had GD with my first, but fortunately managed it through diet and exercise with no problems. I've always read that it's likely to recur with future pregnancies. I ended up losing over 16kg after DS was born and before I fell pregnant this time - my OB said that the weightloss would hopefully help my chances of not getting GD again, but can't guarantee it.
With DS, I was very sick with m/s, not keeping anything down, lost 7kg and got really stuck into the food once I got better, and I remember at the time of the glucose test, I was craving lollies, and would go out and buy a bag of lollies each lunchtime.
With this pregnancy I've had m/s, but it's been quite different and have really needed food to stop the nausea, so I'm worried I've already started to overeat!!!! But now the m/s has subsided, I'm just trying to be careful with what I eat (low GI, low sugar etc.) and now I feel more energetic, I'm going to start exercising, so by the time my glucose test comes around, hopefully it will help me, but who knows!!!
Good luck to all of us!!!:fingerscrossed:
thought there might be a good chance of getting it again. i was only borderline the first time, got a result of 8.1. (8 or higher meaning you have it). maybe i should just start doing the diet again anyway it's the only way i have ever lost weight.
