Hello everyone

Well my DH dropped an unsurprising bomb on me, He want us to move back to Holland. I am a kiwi and don't speak dutch (YET) , and he has been away from there for 6 years, but we really want to feel connected to family so I am actually feeling positive about the whole move. As many of you know my daughter has fairly stable but major medical issues so we would be handing over to about 6 different specialist in Holland as well as Speech, Physio, OT, Audiology...the list goes on!!! I know the medical system is quite different but really good over there!!!

Does anyone have any experience with the children's hospitals there??

Has anyone ship all there stuff there or to here and how much did it cost??

Any advice would be appreciated!!

I will also post in The Netherlands thread!!

Hi Kiwibird,

we just moved from Nl to Perth(back) last year. DH moved early in the year and we followed 6 months later. The medical insurance etc is great back home, no worries there. There are some great kids hospitals, just on the back oof my mind, there 1 in Rotterdam(Sophie hospital) and 1 in Amsterdam which have great reputations!

We spend about 6 years there and DH wasn't happy to stay any longer, so we moved back leaving behind my rellies and taken 2 grandkids away from them....sigh. Allthough I am very happy to be back in Oz, I do miss my rellies enormously especcially as PIL are all in shiftwork and can't look after the kids when I want a break or some me time.

You will have to do a course in dutch(language) upon you're arrival offered by the government, some are good, some are ****. DH can now speak dutch allthough not to perfection, but hey everyone can understand him if need be. You'll find that a lot of people want you to speak dutch, but if it takes too long they start speaking english to you.....

I can tell you a bit about moving your stuff as we have done both ways, allthough we had heaps more taking back this time than before.

How old is yr DD ?

Anyway, if you want any specific info just pm me as it's probably not really the thing you'd want on the forum..

Goodluck and as my kids say 'doei doei'(=see ya)
