Hi all,

I posted in the washing nappies section - really keen to get some advice on this.
I bought some used Babybeehinds (bamboo)with PUL covers and at first they seemed fine.
However I have now noticed that they now seem to have a urine smell. I have not washed
them or sanitised them yet as bub is not here yet.
I would love to use them but a bit unsure now - any solutions to this??

Clemie:)

Try a strip wash. First wash with washing powder/liquid with warm/hot water - only need 1/3 - 1/2 what you'd normally use for that load size. Some people put in a drop of dishwashing liquid - I think to break down any body oil in the nappy, not sure never done the dishwashing liquid. Then you need to do a few more cycles with just the warm/hot water to wash out detergent build up. Dry in full sun to sanitise. There's no need for sofners, bleaches or sanitisers in the wash - they cause the nappy to deteriorate (especially PUL & elastics) and affect the absorbency
