Hi
I am due with my first in 11 weeks and am going to be using both MCNS (greenkids, haute's and baby safari) and terry flats. I have purchased some fleece liners and also some flushables and also have a little squirt on order.
But, I am unsure of the wipes situation. I have some terry face washers to use as well as some home made cloth wipes that appear to be made out of soft flannel/cotton. I was thinking of using a small spray bottle filled with water and maybe a little bath wash to spray onto bubs and use with the wipes to clean up. Does this sound like the way to go or do you guys use another method?
Also, where on earth would I find the covers to go over the terry flats, I think they are called pilchers?

For covers I would recommend getting proper modern cloth covers, not old school pilchers.
nurture nappies has a couple of covers on special that I use, Tots bots PUL with gussets(these would be great for newborns or bubs with skinny legs) and bummis super whisper wraps. Both are $12 each
also the weewuns have a good range.
Not sure about the wipes as I was going to ask the same question LOL
You are on the right track with wipes for sure! I have a little squeeze bottle (sorta like you'd get in a cafe for tomato sauce) with a sorbalene and water mix in it for wetting my wipes. It works a treat. They just go into the nappy bucket and washed with the nappies.
Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

For wipes I just keep a small container with water & baby bath on the shelf near the change table. Each morning I empty the container & refill.
As far as covers go your best bet is a PUL cover, there are quite a few places that sell them. You can also use woollen soaker pants, though when bubs is starting to move around they get dirty pretty quickly.

Yup, we do something similar - plain water in a sports water bottle that we squirt onto terry face washers dedicated as bum wipes. For a small mess, I wet half the washer and use the other half to pat dry.
But I found that too much water seems to dry out DS's bum and lead to nappy rash, so sorbalene and water sounds good. TKK, does sorbalene in the nappy wash lead to residue build up on nappies, or is it OK? How much sorbalene to water do you use? Thanks!!
Well I use Chux normal wipes... Some places you can purchase a whole roll...I cut them to size and wash them first before using and pop them in a container... i soak them as you do cloth nappies and they are soft and gentle on the toosh... They last for a long time... completely sanitary and i think the best thing i ever did....
Sorbolene and water spray is IMO a great way to go... I have a 200ml bottle and use 1 squirt of sorb wash and i find this a good mix.... I use a brand called REDWIN.... It's great stuff....

Im loving the dixie drops atm, one little cube in a cup of water and you use it to wet your wipes. I wouldn't use bath wash because almost all of them contain SLS which is a skin irritant, they are designed to be heavily diluted and rinsed off. Plain Sorbolene mixed with water would be ok too.

Hey. I use such a small amount that it hasn't had any negative build up on my nappies. In my bottle its about 1:4 sorbalene to water ratio for us. Not too thick, not too sloppy...

We use velour wipes and dip them in water just before use. We have a small container with water next to the change table.
