Before my DS Bailey was born we asked my best friend who is like a sister to me and my husband Brother to be godparents.

We are not overly religious but we dont think that the godparents are really given the role unless we have a christening or naming day so i guess i am just wanting to know if anyone else is like this.

I dont know much about it but are there forms to sign if you appoint your child godparents??

Is a naming day a better solution than a religious ceremony?? I was christened and so was my husband so i dont know much about a naming ceremony??

Pls help!!!!

Thanks:confused:

I can't tell you much about naming ceremonies...but in regard to christenings...no, there are no forms that Godparents have to fill out. Depending on your religon, godparents may have to be of the same faith. Hope this helps??

I'm organising a naming as we speak. I have 4 godparents (3 are siblings) and they receive a certificate and I've also organised a candle for each of them as a personal gift from my DS (also named Bailey- what are the odds???). I think these days the title 'Godparent' is almost treated as a gift to the Godparent. I wanted to go back to the core of it and make the day centered around Bailey and the Godparents themselves, and also make it aware that it is an important role that will be an ongoing part of Bailey's life, not just an excuse to have a party and then never see te godparents again.
