At 9.5 months old, my daughter, who never gave me trouble on the change table now screams hysterically and fights constantly to be on her stomach. I have tried restraining her with a change table whatsit, with varing success. It is driving me CRAZY!!!!
Any helpful thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
It seems to be a stage most bubs go through. I battled through our few months of this behaviour by using anything and everything as a distraction and working SUPER fast. The best things I"ve found to use as distractions are things that are usually 'forbidden' such as a tube of teething gel or nappy cream. I find that a few moments for him to turn it around and look at it is all I need to do a really quick nappy change.
For a few weeks we changed nappies on the floor, it was easier to hold him down, but then he learnt how to walk and it was crazy.
Just perserverance...try to find what distractions work best and rotate them.
We're back to good now but it was a few months of that carry on. Not fun, but hey....this parenting gig wasn't meant to be easy
Good luck!

Oh dear...What I have found to work best is singing songs to K. He is also a major mover too.
I have had to brush up on my nursery ryhmes as I lacked in that dept sadly. I also gave him something to play with. Usually something he isn't normally allowed. Has worked so far.
Good luck.

we're experiencing the same thing at the moment except I can't change her on the change table (too hard with big belly) so have to change her on the floor but on the floor the second i let go of her shes crawled off! No turning around to grab anything... disasterous!
Giving her 'forbiddens' helps us a bit tho.. she lovesss baby powder containers :S
I hope this stage finishes quickly lol DS never did this!
Goodluck!

Both my DD's went through this. I give her things she has never seen or things she cannot play with. E.g tub of barrier cream, watches. Keeps her interested for the time it takes me to change a nappy...

My sister had the same problem with her son who is 8mths old. She ended up buying some glittery stickers and stuck one on the back of each hand. Astyn was so amazed at the colours he stopped fighting to concentrate on the stickers. Just remember to remove them once you have finished so they don't end up in their mouths. We got ours from the local $2 shop - one pack will last ages as there is a lot in each packet.
At Luke's old daycare, they had a shelf above the change bench, with a mirror mounted on the underside of the shelf - it worked brilliantly!

We got to a point where even 'forbidden' things stopped working........one day I took his sox off and put them on his hands - he was fascinated!!
I will most likely get shot down for this, but honestly it doesnt hurt my kids...:p
I started changing my boys on the floor at the age they started to go mental on the change table, and I bend my knee and put it over their chest (my leg isnt leaning on their chest, it is more like a wall, if that makes sense. They cant move and they cant stick their hands in the poo.....works a treat :D

Claire's such a placid baby, we haven't experience this (perhaps YET might be a good qualifier - I hope not though!), but I did see this rather nifty looking device recently - http://www.bumpto3.com.au/product_display.aspx?id=278
It's called a safe change and is essentially a "seat belt" for your change table - I don't know if it'd work (I haven't used one), but it looks pretty decent, and reasonably priced too - $30.
Good luck!:fingerscrossed:
