Howdy,

I would dearly love to get a traineeship in the child care industry. Thing is, I don't know how to go about doing so. Do I have to wait and see if a traineeship is advertised? Can I approach a company and see if they will take me on? Is there somewhere that I can go to where they will organise a traineeship for me? It helps is you're in WA too, but I suppose any advice on how to go about this would be fantastic.

I think what you need to do is to contact your local TAFE. We have some trainees at the daycare centre my son goes to and they are all at TAFE studying child care. I hope I have helped and good luck!

If I can't get into a traineeship I plan to study at TAFE, but the placements are quite the same as getting into a traineeship (I think). I intended to be studying this year, but missed out on the enrolments (plus I owe TAFE money from my last course).

traineeships are GREAT!!! ;) a LOT cheaper than tafe too if you start within 3 months of beginning work at the centre- my suggestion is to call centres advertising for 'untrained' workers... and then ask them if they would be willing to take you on as a trainee. The great thing is they get some money from the government for it aswell AND a loyal knowledgable worker...

The people who sign you up in victoria are called MAS national. (government body)
The people I do my study through are One world for children (they're in geelong vic)- you want to speak to someone like this as they are supplying the correspondence traineeship training.

If you need any further help - speak up :D

Thanks heaps for the advice Lauz. I'll have to look around and see if I can find a company similar to One World for children. I'll let you know if I have any more questions.
