Hi ladies - this might be a stupid question, but i need to ask.:o

Hubby was born at 23weeks and a few days (not sure of the exact number of days) gestation back in the early 80's.

He was lucky and a fighter and survived, even though his stomach had not formed, his eyes were still fused shut etc etc and is extremely lucky he doesnt have any major long term issues because of it. (the most noticable thing is his eyes protrude from his head more than normal as they gave him oxygen when he was born and it damaged the retina's)

Anyway, my concern is, we are 23weeks today and im most likely stressing for nothing, however what are the chances of me going early as Hubby was a premmie baby.

He was told quite a few years ago that premmie babies are more likely to have premmie children themselves but cant find any conclusive evidence of that.

What is everyones experiences?

thanks so much.

I didnt think that premmie babies have more of a chance of having premmie babies again,

I dont really have a history in my family any where of prem babies, and my first was 7 weeks early, and my second 4 weeks early,

But my family history is more overdue than early.

Thanks for your reply Trouble.
Thats what we were thinking as my MIL's pregnancy was pretty trouble free, he just didnt want to be in there any longer, so there wasnt a medical reason as such for his premature birth.

Thanks again :)

I can't imagine that a history of prems would be passed from the paternal line.

Premature birth is not hereditary.

Just as things like morning sickness and labour lengths are not hereditary.
