Hi i was just after some help we are wanting to move from tassie to queensland up near redcliffe area and i was wondering if i could get peoples advise i have makaila who will be 3 in december so i have to think of school and stuff for her and blake who is 5 months.
Dh is worries about bringing kids up over there but i think it would be better as there is more to do over there and not much to do here, i have friends over that we will be moving near and we wouldnt be going till may next year so summer is over and we are sure its what we want to do.
I have never lived out of tasmania and never thought i could leave my family but since my parent split up it has made me realise i have to do stuff for myself and my kids and for how much i see my sisters and family if i flew over for birthdays and christmas it wouldnt be much less than i see them now.

Hey hun :)

You might get a bit more of a response if you posted in this in the QLD section, but thought I'd try and help you out!

What sort of information are you after, exactly? Redcliffe's a nice area and it's definately going to get more popular over the next few years. I'm living in Perth atm, but was born and bred in Bald Hills and frequented Sandgate and Redcliffe a lot. It's a nice area, not too far from the city as you can just jump on the Gateway (though peakhour and the Gateway is horrendous). And the Sunshine Coast is only about a 30-40 min drive up the highway. Airport's about a half hour drive.

There's public transport about... only buses in Redcliffe, but trains if you were to move to the other side of the highway.

Ummm, there's plenty of schools around there. North Lakes is a nice suburb with good schools too, not too far from there.

Not sure what else you might want to know... I think the Northside of Brisbane is a great place to bring up kids - can't wait to get back there myself!

Best of luck with your move :)

thank you i really wanted to know about if it was good for bringing up kids my best friend is up there but doesnt have any kids so she doesnt know much about that side. I have looked at some school over there and i reckon they will go public but it wouldnt bother me if i found a good private one i would send them there. I look at the fact that in tassie there isnt a lot to do for children and teenages and thats when they could start getting into trouble and with the beaches and other stuff up there it would keep them busy and hopefully out of the drugs and other trouble. We are going up for a visit in march or april next year to look at it and then if we really like it coming back to sell the house and move so i am trying to find out as much info as we can before then cause there is so many things to think of. If anyone knows of any good websites or anything that would be nice aswell thanks again
