Hi all,
My boy is neary six month old, and I have heard about Infant potty trianing. I was just wondering if anyone else knows about it or has done/attempted it? Could you tell me more about it if you had and how to go about it? Pros/Cons/Tips etc...

Hope you can help!

Cheers,
Sarah. :)

hi sarah:wave:
i've had a couple of friends who have done this.
one who started when her bub was about 3 months or so. she just kept him out of nappies (except when they went out in case of accidents) and while at home would learn to watch his cues. and after a feed would hold him over a bucket or whatever and make ****s ****s sounds. and she would always ask if he needed to go and talked to him about it all the time. we visited her when he was 4 months and when he had to go he would put up his hand!!!! seriously!

she is a single mum so always had her baby with her so she got to know his cues very well. i think the trick is that you need to be around them a lot, so you can pick up on their cues.

my bub is in nappies but i give him lots of nappy free time and i can tell by his noises and facial expressions that a poo is coming on. so we can make it to a toilet or at least have the nappy undone and help him out. (gotta love the baby poo face!)

there is lots of info on the net, and natures child in byron (i think) has a dvd you can get that explains a lot. also the natural parenting forum has threads about it which might give you more info.

good luck with it!!!

Thanks for your info. putting up his hand huh? sounds great! Im a single mum too, so I am always with my bub (wouldnt want it any other way!) you said "and natures child in byron has a dvd" what does that mean, and how do I go about getting the dvd?

Ill have a look at the forum.

Nappy Free DVD (http://www.natureschild.com.au/products/nappy_free_dvd/1645/1) from Nature's Child. I went to an Information Night when this DVD was released, saw the film and had a Q&A session with the creator Nicole Moore. She had her baby with her, and gave us a demo! :D

Any experiences to share?
I am keen to allow my baby to be nappy free as much as possible. I have read a few sites on this and it sounds intriguing. It makes sense to me.

when my bub could sit up everytime i changed his nappy i would sit him on the potty and play and read a book and then take him off and 9 times out of 10 he would have done a wee or poo...

he is now 17 months and for awhile has been wondering to the potty to do a wee/poo by himself!! :smiliedance:

after awhile you will get to know their signs of wees and poos coming...

good luck!!:D
