Well i started contractions in the early hours of Monday morning and its now Wednesday morning and they are still very irregular. Im having contractions between 8-20 minutes and they are getting very painful and im not sleeping at all. Im confused as to what to do, should I keep on waiting and get no sleep and be exhausted or should I tell them I want the baby to be brought on quicker? Any help or just a chat would be great!

No advice just :hugs: heading your way! I haven't been sleeping but am not in labour (sometimes I think that's a pity!)!
I hope someone comes on who can give you advice soon!

I had the same thing happen when I had Shine. The best advice someone could have given me was try to sleep! Seriously, I know it is sooo hard, but try to nap. You will need your strength for the end part.
I didn't follow my own advice and ended up going in to hospital. (I had the added pressure of a full film crew filming my birth for a documentary so I felt pressured to speed things up). I had my waters broken, which then cascaded into heaps more unwanted intervention. I wish I had've just stayed home and let nature take it's course.

My labour built up over a few days as well. The best thing to do is try and rest. I know its hard to sleep, but even just lying on the couch resting is a good thing. As ****** said, you'll need to conserve your energy for later on!
To try and relax and take my mind off it we went and saw a movie! I dont remember what movie we saw, and to be honest I dont think I paid much attention to it at the time, but it was good. I had a laugh and it lightened up the atmosphere for my husband and I. (laughter is also a good way to help things along in a natural way!)
Good luck with everything, and as ****** said - let nature take its course. Rushing it will create all sorts of issues.
And just keep thinking of this - You will meet your precious baby soon! How exciting is that!! :yelclap: :hugs:

I havent really got any advice - just wanted to offer a :hugs:
I have heard that if you have a slow labour build up, sometimes the real active labour bit can be easier as your body will have already done most of the hard work. I guess you are going through that now though. I hope you manage to get some rest!

Hey charlach,
It all depends on what you want to do, if its getting too much for you and you think you need help or just want it to be all over than I suggest you go to the hospital. If you do want an intervention free labour than try and stick it out a bit longer and like the rest have said try to rest:)

If you havent had any sleep in three days and have tried everything to get to sleep then i suggest ringing your Ob/hospital and asking them about sleeping tablets. I know it sounds bad to be taking sleeping tablets when preggy but there is a class A (not harmfull to bubs) sleeping tablet out there as i took one when i was in labour. It didnt knock me around like some sleeping tablets can... actually it didnt do much at all but it might help you get just a few hours of much needed shut eye.
Good luck... i hope everything goes well :hugs:

:hugs: Have you told the hospital whats happening to you? Seeming you haven't slept, if you go in they will most likely admit you. If they admit you then you could ask for some pethidine as that will relax you so you can sleep. Even if you just went in to the hospital and got them to check you out and see whats happening, and maybe discuss induction of labour. Thats if you want it to come a bit quicker. It is hard to sleep when your in pain, and you'll need to be rested so I think if you called you ob/midwife they could arrange something for you. Good luck, hope everything goes well for you!!!:hugs:

I would say contact your midwives or Ob also if your needing some help to sleep they can usually give you a sleeping tablet so you can conserve as much energy as possible.
Im feeling you on this i went into labour on the Friday at 3am & didnt have bubs till Monday afternoon at 4.45pm but i had even had irregular contractions for a day prior.
Try & rest as the others said you will need all your strength soon :hugs:
