hernia operation

anybody is free to answer, not just adelaide people, i just thought it might fit in here better than any where else =]

my brother is going to hospital on tuesday for a hernia operation, i'm not sure what it involves, so could some body please tell me?
i'd like to organise help for him, because he has a disabled partner and a 9month old son, and she can't look after their son on her own, nor can she look after herself, but i don't think my brother will be able to look after either of them after the operation.
so does any body know if in adelaide some where there is home care for people like this?

How are they going to repair the hernia?

My hernia was near my belly button, and required mesh to be implanted to fix it. I was hospital overnight, and had a week off of work.

Some hernias can be repaired through keyhole surgery, and therefore wouldn't be quite so bad.

It really depends what the surgeon is doing.
