My new little boy finally made his arrival into the world on the 5th June - 6 days late.
I had a show all day Friday - and funny feelings in my tummy, not cramps as such but certainly pressure.
On Saturday I had a visit with my ob to discuss my options for induction etc. I had been feeling very apprehensive about this birth as my last son was over 10 pounds and I had to have a vacume extractions, lots of stiches etc. As this baby was overdue I was terrified that he would be even bigger! My ob put my mind at rest, saying the baby, although still big would be nowhere near the size of my son.
So with that I went home and started early labour!! The contractions were very mild and kept stoping and starting. I went to bed that night with a hot pack warning my husband that he would probably be woken up to go the hospital at around 3.
Sure enough at 3pm the contractions were regular and painful. I woke my husband and called the mid-wife. She asked if I felt I could stay home a bit longer, I said I would except I would just be pacing the floor so I would rather come in.
On arrival at the hospital I was starting to wonder if I was in false labour as the countractions were very irregular - although painful. However when I entered the delivery suite somthing kicked in and within 2 hours my baby boy was born, weighing 4.6kg! I had no time for drugs, in spite of screaming for the epidural!!
The best thing was I only had a couple of little stiches and none of complications I had with my last son.
All my months of worry were for nothing. I had a 'dream birth' !
So to anyone who has had a bad birth the 1st time - don't let it put you off, I can't believe how totally different my labours were.
I think I might even do it again!!!
( for the record this baby was 37grams less then my 1st son - so much for what Ob's know about baby size)
