i was in one.....ive got the rules somewhere...shall hunt them out...from memory you got 1 point per hour of babysitting before midnight and 2 points after...and that was what you would use if you used a sitter....only people who knew others in the club could join....prefer having the female to sit...hmmm shall hunt them out

thanks Annb!
I've checked out the internet and there was some good stuff there too. Can you think of any NO NOs for the club. Things that I should make sure that we don't do? thanks :D

found the rules
...cannot go into debit more than 12 points
each member has the books for 1 mth
children should be ready for bed
sitting not to commence before 7pm or end after 2am unless prior notice
bonus point if extra children are included when sitter agrees to it
if any objection to fathers baby sitting please advise when making the booking
contat the people with lowest number of points first

thats about it really..if you have too many rules it gets too hard!!!

I started one once. We all had police checks and did a first aid course too.
The club didn't last long because we were all friends anyway and we found that as a result of the club we all became more comfortabe with a more informal arrangement - so in that respect it was a sucess.

Ive been the fill-in baby sitter for a club like you have suggested (meaning if there is no one available i cover) and they run it quite professionally now, because when they stopped counting hours (it was like a pool, you babysitt for 1 hour, you are owed one hour, and it was kept in a ledger... much like a bank balance) it became unfair to some people... who were babysitting all the time! and not getting a whole lot back in return..

Just thought i would suggest that from the beginning you set up a ledger... and monitor if any of the balances are getting too high/ low

What a good idea, ive never even heard of something like this before. Sounds like something I'd be interested in doing with friends.
