View Full Version : How Much Should Kids Grow?
Hi there. I was wondering if anyone knows how much weight a 14mth old boy who is walking and very very busy, should be gaining each month?
Babies grow alot
but once in the second year and
becoming more active
their growth slows down
My son was about 12kg at your son's age
and at three years now he is 15 kg
He is a very healthy boy.
Don't worry about weight gain.
If he is eating well and staying active throughout the day
you should be happy.
cos he is!

My DS had weight gain issues that began at 14 months (tho was made worse by him being premmie and already underweight) from 14 months - 24 months he only gained 190grams and that was a struggle. With some help from a paed and dietician he gained 3kg in the next 15 months though which put him on the bottom 10th percent by the health chart. DS is tiny in height also tho.. on the same charts he is welllll under the 'bottom line' for height even now at 3.5.
All children are different and I don't think it would matter if at 14 months hes not really gaining any weight at the moment as long as he's not losing it because its a very active stage and as far as I know most toddlers weight stabilizes for a bit because they go from being virtually inactive to almost hyperactive overnight lol
that is so reassuring to hear - thank you!
Feeding my George is a constant battle but he is very happy and active and sleeps well so he must be alright! thanks for your replies.
