GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I am so over it.

After 6 years of being casual i managed to get a job perm 3 days a week where i have always worked.

Trouble is i am a registered nurse and the hours are 7AM until 2.30 which means i have to have someone mind him from 6.45 AM and take him to school.

My mum was doing it but she has had a spack attack and now my friend is doing it but i don't want to keep asking her as she will get sick of me.

I have rang numerous day care centres ,no they don't deliver to my sons school or open early enough, only family day carer i know is o maternity leave.

The gov in all it's wisdom provides in home care but you have to pay for three hours min a day and it's 25 bucks an hour.

I am just so frustrated.

I want to work but i can't get care for him.

Why does it have to be so hard?

Bloody everyone whinges about the shortages of nurses, well here is one that wants to work and no on will help me.!!!:crying:

*hugs*

I know how you feel! I had to leave my job because with 3 kids in child care, it was costing me more than what I was earning(we were paying MORE in childcare fees than in RENT!!!).

Just wanted to say i'm sorry your dealing with this and I truely do understand the frustration.

I'm a Personal Carer, only I cant WORK as such because of the 7am start. Before school care doesnt open until 7am so I cant drop her off and get to work in time. Very frustrating.

Currently i'm trying to find a PCA job that is shorter hours or more flexible but not liking my chances, thus why i'm studying Finance.... need another career until my DD is older and can get herself off to school (teenage years I guess?)

Im also an RN so I know firsthand how crappy the hours are. I am lucky that I have a DH that is able to take DS to school etc. I met DH while I was a single parent at uni though, but was lucky to have my mum help me out a lot in that time.
Where abouts do you work? Is it in a hospital, or nursing home etc? I know at my hospital they are so short staffed that there is a relief pool of nurses who work from 8-4:30. Is there anyway your mum could watch him and you could work nights? Or do you know someone else in a similar position who could babysit for a few hours in the morning in exchange for your babysitting on days off?
I think it's stupid that my hospital doesn't have a creche. Its a reasonably big hospital with 300 or so staff and you would think that it would be a good way to attract nurses back to work. The government needs to look at reasons like this if they want to encourage nurses back to work.
