Is anyone with latrobe? Are you happy with them/unhappy?:detective: All opinions welcome-at least opinion preferred:laughing:

 We're with latrobe. I'm very happy with them. The premiums seem to be about average, I could probably shop around for something a little bit cheaper, but whenever I've had to make a claim there's been no problems, no fuss, just ok - here's your money! So I'm sticking with it.

Also, early on, they paid something for me that they didn't technically have to pay, and it was really nice of them to exercise their discretion in my favour.

So  from me.

Thanks shelle. I have heard others say that about them too:yes: and the premiums do look comparable to the others I have looked at. I am most impressed with the 9month waiting period on preggy related stuff as opposed to the usual 12 month with other funds-quite an advantage IMO.

It was pretty consistent with other's we looked at re price-but the 9 month wait really sealed the deal for us, plus we have heard good reviews :) I think we pay under $40 a week for hospital (with a $40 a night up to max $280? per stay co-payment) and around $10 p/w general dental. That is for family cover.

Have been with Latrobe all my life.

Can only give them the highest praise!! Both with my parents & my sister & myself and many illnesses & surgeries over the years we have never had an issue with substantial & prompt payments.

The only disappointment with them is that they don't cover homebirth/independent midwife. I have written to them about this & they indicated they are reviewing correspondence on it, so hopefully it will be available soon :)

Does anyone know if the waiting period you have already served on another fund is transferred over when you switch funds?

For example, we've been with CDH for 3 months, and are thinking of switching to Latrobe. Would they make us wait the whole 9mths on maternity, or would they credit the 3mths and just make us wait 6mths?

Thanks! :)

My understanding is that all government approed health funds mustrecognise continuity at an equivelant level for those changing funds. It's part of why they introduced SIS forms, to make comparing the different funds when looking at changing easier.

So in theory they should recognise your prior 3 months, so you'd only have 9 left. They will not count any prior cover untill a clearance certificate is provided though, and you should check with latrobe to be certain. Also check that they will provide suitable cover for where you intend to birth.
