Just wondering about your bubs 3 - 4 month milestones as my chn has me worried
at 13 weeks 5 days did you bubby make lots and lots of cooing and talking noises? DD does this but probably only for an hour all up each day and the chn reffered us to a speach therapist so now I am soooooo worried about her. Also DD only realy laughs to herself at this stage she does not laugh when I pull faces etc, is this normal at close to 14 weeks?
Also Dd hates tummy time and will not lift her head just scream so the chn reffered her to a physio??? she has realy good head controll sitting and when u hold her, i just thought she hated tummy time.
The chn has me realy stressed out that I am doing something wrong and DD is not developing normally. I thought that she would be given untill at least the 4 month mark before being reffered to secialists IYKWIM.
Can you all tell me what your bubs is up to in regards to sounds/talking and tummy time please.
TIA :)
:hugs:oh wow dont panic my ds is same age exactly lol and he doesnt laugh yet either. he doesnt mind tummy time and he prob does about the same amount of "talking". chn are great for a bit of feeding or nappy rash advice but other than that.......... i too got worked up into a panic at them suggesting outragous stuff with my first 2 this time i simply dont even go the the chn i just go straight to gp. im sure you will find that the specialists think its nothing . good luck
Also Dd hates tummy time and will not lift her head just scream so the chn reffered her to a physio??? she has realy good head controll sitting and when u hold her, i just thought she hated tummy time.
My DS2 is 16 weeks & also hates tummy time. What about if you're sitting on the lounge & have her on your belly, does she lift her head then?
My son also has only laughed a handful of times & is only just starting to smile 'at' us.
I think it's a bit over the top to be sending you for these other appointments at the moment IMO.
:hugs: I'm sure your daughter is fine. All babies will do things in their own time. This is my 3rd & they've all been different.
How insensitive of the CHN. Could you get a second opinion from your GP before spending money on specialists?
Definitely get the 2nd opinion....especially a speech therapist at 4 months
I guess I understand the physio more than the speech therapist - lots of the baby milestones are built around them developing gross motor skills, so she may be jsut wanting to check this out, but I'd bet in the time it takes you to get into a physio she'll probably start doing it! And is she responding to noises/startling/whatever....? If so then her hearing is pronbably fine, so it would seem that a speech therapist is unneccesary (????What would a speech therapist do with a 4mo anyway??????)

thanks ladies, i feel better now :)
i am sure she will be fine, her hearing is all good cause she had the computer hearing test thing at birth (measures the brain activity when exposed to sound) and that came back good so i think it is just her doing things at her own pace.
i thought it was crazy to send her to a speach therapist at 4 months, what on earth are they going to do get her to recite the abc lol
i think the chn was just a bit of a worry wort, at least the physio n speach therapist will b free at the state child development center :) i guess i will go along, at best they will reassure me and worst will give me some tips.
i am going to go get that babylove book too.
Thanks so much ladies, the chn had me realy freaked out and feeling like i was doing something wrong and stunting her development or something.

my dd hates tummy time so i went and bought her the lamaze spin and explore garden gym from big w and she loves it. and best of all once tummy time has passed she can still use the play mat.

as for the cooing and talking i found that if i made the same sound back, L would repeat it or make a new sound and then i would repeat or make a new sound and if she went quite i would tickle her and then she would start cooing again.
