Hey there,

Just wondering if I'm the only one on the forum from Dubbo?

My husband and I moved to Dubbo last September with our two boys, from Canberra.

He is studying to be a Secondary school teacher, while I'm a domestic engineer.

We are expecting child number 3 around the end of June... and can't wait.:smiliedance:

Would love to catch up with other parents from our area as we don't know many people.

Hi there dubbomum,

I do hope you managed to find some other parents in the area that you have become friends with. I do know how difficult it is to make new friends - especially in a country town. I grew up in Nyngan and lived there until I was about 21, now I live in Brisbane with my husband and our 8 1/2 month old DD. I know country people are very very friendly, but it is extremely hard to break into a crowd of existing friends (unlike the numerous mothers groups etc you can try out in the cities) as most of these women would have been friends since going to school together. If I can give you any advice as how to get into the local scene it would be to get involved or at least go to watch any local sporting events. Country people are very big on their sport and it is very easy to start conversations at these events. Other than that, I am sure there would be child health clinics etc which would be able to put you in touch with any mums groups which have started up.

I hope everything is going well with your pregnancy -- in your post you said you were due at the end of June.........how long have you got to go now?? Are you having your baby at the Dubbo Base Hospital? (thats were I was born!)
