View Full Version : Are you as crazy as me!
Sorry I know this isn't exactly a problem TTC but I thought I had to ask it in this forum!!
Is there anyone else out there who is TTC but is not pregnant yet that constantly buys Pregnancy Magazines?? I bought another 2 today, I have 6 all up now and I only went off the pill 2 months ago! lol
I feel like I am going overboard, but then on the other hand I feel like the mags are not only providing me with some information that is still handy while TTC but kind of keeps my mind off the failures of TTC while letting my mind still be on the subject (hope that made sence!).
I think hubby is going to screem when I tell him i bought more mags! lol (and of course they will still come in handy when we do eventually conceive... hope the information isnt too out of date!! :D )

No I think I am worse!
I painted the nursery, started buying baby clothes, towles, baby coat hangers, baby books, prints for the walls, nappy soak, baby poweders, creams, a change table with baby bath, bibbs and my list goes on! I have been off the pill since Jan. I even started choosing names!
OMG you are worse than me! lol
I have got a big list of names for each sex though, have been noting ones I like for years now. Read the birth announcements every day to!
Anyone else as crazy (perhaps some would say obsessed) as us!
Im lucky enough i work somewhere that buys about 50 magazine titles - baby an parenting ones too - though today is the first time i have glanced ant Practical Parenting - i never knew how good the information was inside! esp the one titled Boosting fertility. A very good article for those just starting the ttc journey! (rollercoaster! )
God no your certinaly not the only one im like baby dancer at last count I had a Pram, cot, bassinet, play mat, bath/change table, portable carrier thingy a suitcase full of clothes, toys and lots of nappies and powders ect Ijust cant help myself. I have a few parenting books and a few pregnancy books that I brought whenwe started trying it drives my DP crazy but he lets me go because he knows it makes me feel better about the fact that it is taking us so longto fall pregnant

This is quite funny.. It's great to see i'm not the only one in the world who's partner is continually confused as to why a childless individual chooses to buy M+B and Practical parenting/pregnancy:banghead: ... I too have a large stockpile of 'neutral' clothes and accessories for my future bub:) . I just cant help myself, especially when i'm shopping and choose to look at pumpkin patch, esprit etc... I once was asked if the purchase was for me.. and being totally unprepared for that comment i said  "No, it's for my sisters baby"... The funny thing is my sister is four years old.. lol

I too, have to confess - I have bought baby magazines and have recently been purchasing maternity clothing from ebay ( bargains girls!!!)
It all started when my sister in law gave me some Mother and Baby and Practical Parenting magazines......they were really good, so I thought  "why not buy some more, I'll be very well informed when it is my turn".
I have had to buy gifts for lots of friends and family who have had babies and I have to tell you it has been sooooo tempting to buy some cute things for my future bub when I go out shopping....but I haven't yet. (Let it be known though, I know exactly what I want , from which shops and how much it will cost!!!! )

I have bought 3 books and have a subscription to Mother&Baby. But hubby wont allow me to buy any baby things until we have passed the magic 12 week mark... And thats only cause he's a tight-a$$ LOL
No I think most people do the same thing
A girlfriend of mine who is also TTC and I were talking about how much money we have wasted on preg tests hoping we were pregnant (seems insane!) but I also have some baby clothes, bottles etc in my cupboard which are a secret but couldnt resist at the time.
Also how else can you explain how addicted I am to this site before I am ever pregnant!
Oh and as for names we have had ours picked since before we ever started trying - one of the few things we had no probs agreeing on :)
 girls,
Im the same. A complete nut job. I buy the parenting/birth/pregnancy mags. I have glothes, breast pump!!!, change table with bath and some bottles and toys.
My excuse if anyone askes, is that yes im not pregnant, but yes we are trying and im saving money in the long run, cause what if i cant work when im pregnant. We then wont have enough money to buy all that stuff. So that is my excuse. Trust me it works  .
I find ebay is a bit too expensive for clothes because of postage. I love going to the trash and tresure and you buy almost new clothes at no more than $2 a piece.
Love it.

Hey I am doing all of those things to! I have started to pack my bags for the hospital as well (not kidding). But I am the sort of girl that is always the first one at a party......But you can never be to pepared I say.
Have had a few bad thoughts about this approch though. Like, what if I can't conceve. I will have to sell all the stuff in the trading post or something?

being prepared though is the best thing. Even if you not preg and trying everytime you go shopping buy some nappies or different size clothers etc cause when the bub is here, they'll go thriugh so much and beside it is better to get it now while you can afford it. Later on it may seen more difficult to buy the nicer things!!

That was my theory . I thought I would buy as much as I could now because money is going to be a bit tighter when I leave work. Well that is how I justify buying all the things I do  DP even gets excited now, goos and garrs at all the little clothes etc. He was the one that actually painted the nursery. I bought the paint and wasn't going to rush to paint the room and I came home one Sunday and he had done it (he was so impressed with himself too LOL:laughing: )

And I thought I was bad... I feel so better now reading these posts. I have a new pram, heaps of baby clothes, towels, cloth nappies, baby play gym, bath aid etc etc. I have at least 6 pregnancy books and I buy baby and parenting magazines. I bought these all before I started trying to conceive and now that I am (our second month) I have decided that I will not buy any more until I am pregnant. Happy shopping.

Well guys, all I can say is 'Glad I'm not the only one!' Although I could be classed as extra nutty, I already have everything I need from my first one! But I still have this undesirable urge to comb through the newborn section of shops everytime I go shopping! We have started to try a week ago, we want to be prepared because we fell pregnant with DS on the first go! My DH is the WORST...2 days after making the decision to concieve #2, (but not even having done the baby dance yet) he's come home from the shops (he only went to get milk) with 5 newborn bodysuits in hand, smiling proudly from ear to ear at his triumphant find!:smiliedance:
