My big boy turns 4 next month and we want to have a party for him. We don't know many people near us with kids his age, but he talks about some of the kids at child care. How do I go about inviting 3 or 4 friends from child care if I have never met the parents before? Is it ok to only invite a few people out of a class of 20 or so?

We did this when DS was in child care and just put the invitations in the other children's pockets where staff leave notes for parents etc (do they still have those??). It wasn't a problem to just invite a few - everyone did it.

Hmmm, not sure if it's ok to only invite a few kids out of the 20 - I have no idea of the rights and wrongs there, but I'd just write up invites with the kids names on them and put them in their pigeon holes at daycare or get your son to give them to the kids and put your contact details on there so that parents can give you a call and/or meet you before the party.

Yep we have done that.

No parent of a child in daycare or school expects you to invite the whole class.

Also each child usually makes friends with a few children, not everybody.

Just put the invites in the pigeon holes.

Have fun.:)

Yep, just did that when my big boy turned 4 at the beginning of the month.

He only invited 6 out of the 20 kids at daycare.

I asked him, which kids his friends are and which ones he wanted at his party.

Then I just wrote the invitation for them.

No one expects you to invite the whole class. Normally, kids come along with some and with others they don't.
