View Full Version : The Pill and Pregnancy
Hey all, i'm relatively new to forums so i'm not sure if there's a post about this yet or not...
Hubby and I have decided to ttc; I was on the pill for approx. 18 months and came off the pill in Dec '05.
Does anyone know how long it takes for the pill to get out of your system???
I've heard it can take upto 12 months and was wondering how accurate this info was.
Thanks

Hi welcome to bubhub. It varies from woman to woman,i have heard that some have fallen preg 1st month off the pill then others it has taken 12 months or more. I was on the depo-prevara contraception injection for 4 years and it took me 6 months to conceive my last dd,so it really varies greatly. Good luck with TTC.

im not sure how accurate this info is,, i was on the pill since i was 15 and i fell pg with tyler when i was 24 i was still on the pill so i think it just depends on the person,,,
welcome to bub hub:D
I fell preg with DD less than 2mths after going off the pill...I was on it for almost 2yrs. It took about 6mths for me to fall preg with DS and I had not been on the pill at all before that.
My Dr told me, when I mentioned how surprised I was that I was preg so soon after going off the pill, that the pill doesn't actually stay in your system. The way she explained it to me was that as soon as you go off the pill it is possible to get preg...I know a lady who took less than a month. Some people take longer than other but that is just their bodies and nothing to do with the fact that they were on the pill.
Good luck ttc :fingerscrossed: you'll be preg before you know it :)
I was on the pill for 14 years, I am now almost 28 and stopped taking it 2 months ago. My body has not returned to ovulating yet and I have not had a bleed since the withdrawl one (anovulatory or not, you can bleed even though you have not ovulated, technically the bleed is not menstration).
I have read around and it basically depends on your body and how long it takes for it to start ovulating again. Could be straight away, could be a year or more.... unfortunately it is not a question we can answer (bugger isnt it! )
Good luck though, hope your body sorts itself out soon! :fingerscrossed:
