Hiya bub-hubbers!

I am a happy cloth nappy user but need some help finding the best overnight option. At the moment we use prefolds during the day, and then 2 prefolds with a fleece cover overnight. This works well but is pretty bulky and I wonder if it doesn't do any damage to my poor girl's back sleeping on such a mountain of cloth.

So I was wondering if anyone had encountered any super-absorbant (maybe microfibre or hemp?) nappies or boosters that they would recommend for overnight. Any liners you could recommend too would be great (we're just using polar fleece ones, cut up from a blanket).

Thanks y'all for your help - I love this forum!

Hi Charla,

We use a terry nappy with a hemp booster (6 thin layers) and a microfibre cleaning cloth (the BigW ones) under a fleece liner. This is lasting pretty well, and is less bulky than 2 terry nappies together. She's pretty wet in the morning, but that's after a feed in the wee hours (ha ha get it!!) . The cleaning cloths are well worth it - cheap and very absorbent :)

For night I find for us the Eenee nappies work everytime. You just fold up a flat nappy into a pad shape and insert into the Eenee. When the Flat nappy is wet you just replace it with another flat nappy folded once again into a pad shape!

I like pocket nappies for nights. We use both Fuzzi Bunz and Sandra's Stuffables but I do prefer the Sandra's for fit. I stuff with one FB microfibre insert and a Sandra's Stuffables hemp booster trifolded. This lasts my heavy wetting 2 yr old 12hrs easily. It is bulkier than disposables but trimmer than other cloth options yet is still super absorbant.

I use a mix of both microfibre and hemp because the microfibre absorbs moisture very quickly but doesn't hold onto it very well (think of a sponge leaking after being pressed) and the hemp underneath because it is super absorbant and holds onto the moisture. Bamboo boosters are another very trim option too.

Hi Charla

I also use a pocket on my daughter overnight. I use a PUL pocket with suede cloth inner, and stuff it with a hemp prefold, as well as a microfibre booster and it lasts her all night (12-13 hours). As Lucy E said, it is not quite as trim as a disposable, but still very trim :)

Polar fleece liners are great for fitted or prefold nappies, as they keep your baby's skin nice and dry. Generally pocket nappies do not need a separate liner, as with most pockets, the entire inner layer is a stay dry liner.

Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you!

My top two recommendations for night time use are
a) Honey boy (used with a microfleece insert at night time) - I have been truly suprised at this nappy's night time ummm capacity??? - check out the cherubs kiss website.. OR

b) a fleece pocket nappy - stuffed with microfibre and hemp - fleece keeps all the wetness off bubs skin :smiliedance: - the pocket keeps the nappy more trim - and hemp is WAY more absorbant than terry

I haven't had we cot sheets yet (touch wood  )
