Hello Lovely January Mums to be!
I just wanted to see if any of you have any ideas on baby shower ideas for a "simple" 'No Fuss" baby shower. My family think they are a stupid "americanised" tradition. they wouldnt enjoy going to a baby shower that is too over the top. Do any of you have any ideas for games or activities to do? Also how far along r u supposed to be to have one? i dont want to put it off toooo long because it will be getting very warm over here and it wont be much fun for anyone. Also.. are baby showers all women only??
Love to hear your ideas or suggestions..

How about going out for a High Tea with your closest female relatives and friends?
Its simple, and you can have people pay for themselves in lieu of gifts or you can do a high tea yourself - get some nice sweet treats from a patisserie and make some ribbon sandwiches or mini quiches and put on tea/coffee, using some nice crockery and tablewear.
Most people have them between 30 and 36 weeks pregnancy, but its up to you. Its nice too if someone else can organise it for you!!
Or perhaps think of having a blessingway instead?
For games you can have everyone bring a baby photo of themself and have a guess who the baby is game.
Also using wool or string to guess how big the bump is.
You need to have some prizes or treats with the games.
Good luck
I think it is a nice gesture. We had them a lot in the small town I used to live in, mainly because the women had to leave for a couple of weeks as there was no maternity hospital in town, so it was a nice way to catch up with all your friends before you disappeared for a month!!:D
There are some websites with ideas for games.
A good one is a "Trouble shooting Chart" . It works best if you have a large group.
each guest has two cards
on one card they write out a possible 'problem' that might occur with a newborn/post birth
on the other they write a solution to a DIFFERENT problem
pop each card into a separate bag
then you randomly draw them out of the bag and make up a (slightly ridiculous) troubleshooting chart.
Have a great time. It's a nice excuse to have time with friends whatever you decide to call it!

JAG5000 has a great quiz on famous babies and a list of old wives tales to decide if it's a boy/girl. PM her and I'm sure she'll be happy to share as she Rocks !!

I agree with the girls who said it's just a nice way to get together before baby is born.... I won't have one, as this is my 4th baby, but I have been to a couple, and they can be lots of fun...... I think they are just for women, kind of like the kitchen tea thing before a lady gets married.....
