first tooth

hi all,
I am wondering if anyone can tell me, how long does a tooth take to come up once it has broken through the gum? and how long does the pain last (for them, not us :) )

I dont know exactly how long the pain lasts in each tooth... my son never gets just one tooth at a time... just when i think it is all over (around a week for my son) another one comes thru...

over the last 2 weeks my son has got his top 2 teeth, and is now just cutting one of the side top teeth...

I'm not sure either. My daughter was usually grizzly and drooling long before there was any sign of an actual tooth through the gum. I think just having it moving up from the jaw hurts. Once it showed through she tended to calm down.

My DD seemed to have no pain once the tooth had broken through the gum. The day before seemed to be the worst and then voila new tooth poking out!!
