Hi all!

We're planning to TTC in about two months, just after DD's first birthday and I wanted to know if it's likely that I'll be able to continue breastfeeding? I know that it's possible, but how difficult is it?

Is breastfeeding while TTC going to reduce my chances of falling pregnant (three feeds a day, my periods came back about two months ago).

And if I do fall pregnant while breastfeeding, will it increase my chances of miscarrying?

I'm not sure about the answers to your other questions, except the last one.

No absolutely not - breastfeeding during a pregnancy is perfectly safe and won't increase your chances of miscarrying.

Have a look at this (http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/tandem.html) ABA article on breastfeeding through a pregnancy.

I was B/F when I conceived DS2. My periods returned when DS1 was 9mo, I was pregnant when he was 10mo. He self weaned when I was 10 weeks pregnant.
B/F while TTC didn't seem to be a problem, can't say whether the pregnancy made him less interested in feeding though. Milk/colostrumy discharge(Sorry if TMI) never disappeared throughout entire pregnancy though and DS2 -14mths show no signs of giving it up! Good luck with BUB #2 :)

I've had no worries TTC while breastfeeding. I've fallen pregnant 3 times while breastfeeding :D And each pregnancy it only took the one time ;)

Good luck!

Yes you can continue I found my supply dropped around the 17wk mark for a couple of days but returned with no probs and DD was fine

I dont think so especially if bub has 3 solid meals a day, I was feeding DD up to 6 times a day and still got pregnant

And if I do fall pregnant while breastfeeding, will it increase my chances of miscarrying?

Not at all I'm 4 weeks from having bub #2 and DD 23months is still having 2-3 breastfeeds a day, the baby takes all the nutrients it needs first then whats left over goes to the breatsfeeding toddler

I don't know what the statistics of falling pregnant are, but I got pregnant when feeding my 7 month old, I think I might have got one af and she had just started more solids. :)
