I neeeeed to wean my 19mth old DS (just found out no.2's on the way and I want a break and some sleep beforehand!!). DS is very needy (to say the least), still wakes at least 4 times a night, he has never slept a night through :(. We co-sleep, well he has a cot beside the bed and when wakes we have to put him in with us. We have tried so many things and just can't seem to wean him. I actually have a single fold out bed in the room which I've been sleeping in for past 4 months, and when DS wakes DH puts him in with him. This was working ok most nights, although he wakes desperate for me at 5.30am and still has a comfort feed in the late afternoon and just before sleep (he still has to be rocked to sleep). And I read somewhere to keep up the day feeds as they get satisfied with that and it's easier to cut this one out later than the night time ones...??

but, DH had surgery last week so I had to sleep with DS... and now everything has gone backwards bigtime!!! He is super sooky now and mummy mummy all day and suctioned to me all night.... I tried the firm approach - ie we've finished our drink now, no more until tomorrow, and he got so hysterical I had to get him out of bed and turn on the lights, take him out into the lounge room to snap him out of it!!! This has happened a number of times. He doesn't have a room, so we can't try that.... Anyone got any advice for weaning without trauma..... :( :fingerscrossed:

oh hun' ...big :hugs:'s to you and your DH - and your lovely boy

I have no advice really, I haven't breastfed long term before.. just couldn't read this and not reply

there is a lot of lovely ladies here with wonderful BFing advice (shed and mahna mahna spring to mind) maybe try posting this in the breastfeeding section, you might get more help there perhaps

good luck :)
