My partner, 5 month old boy and I are living in Vietnam for 12 months. Getting good baby advice can be a challenge. We have an international medical clinic here in Hanoi and they have a paediatrician who flies in from Laos for three days a month. Great doctor but not always convenient. I'd be interested to hear from anyone else raising a child outside of Australia. I have to say bubhub is a godsend.
Hi
I was like you, an Aussie Mum living overseas. I was in Ireland when I had my first two. I'm back in Aus now, but it isn't easy being pregnant and having a baby overseas. I had very unsupportive in-laws, but it would have been better to not have had them there at all.
I think the hardest thing is seeing your body change so much in such an exciting way and not having your family and close friends marvel at your pregnancy, and then your baby. I didn't have any of my family there to visit me in hospital, it somehow makde the experience less real.
I'm now pregnant again and cannot wait for my baby to be born here. I was to be inundated with friends and family at the hospital so they can see that I do actually give birth to tiny little babies, not just ones who are 6+ months old.

Child & Youth Health (South Australia) have an excellent website that covers all sorts of issues from health/medical to behavioural and parenting info.
If you just need info, rather than needing an actual dr visit, I think you will find it very useful. It will also keep you in touch with the latest Australian policies on things ready for when (if) you come home.

Thanks for your responses :D What I miss most is the support and advice from family and friends but knowing there are resources online makes a difference.
