View Full Version : AIOs outer material
What materials are good to use for the outer of an all in one besides PUL? I want to try and make one tomorrow while I am at my mum's place so would like to use material that isn't too tricky to sew with and I could just pick up from Spotlight.

Malden Mills fleece is great, but you certainly won't find that at Spotlight.
Two layers of regular polar fleece would to, but it will add bulk to the nappy, unless you are making a pocket.

I found some PUL at spotlight, it is laminated on the wrong side though  so its a bit plasticy on the outside. Gave it a test run and it doesnt wick, so you could have a look and see if they have any at your spotlight. If not, like faeml said, 2 layers of fleece will do it.
Cool thanks. I'll check it out. I'm so impatient.
Faeml - If I were to make a pocket instead would I just need the 2 layers of regular polar fleece or would I still need something as the inner lining. If that makes sense.

I would still use 2 layers of fleece on the outside and something a bit trimmer on the inside (not sure if spotlight has suedecloth)
and yeah, its PUL...seems weird I know. I'm just going to use it as an outer on a pocket nappy.
Heavyweight fleece... the anti pill stuff from spotlight works fine, but you need two layers :)

You use two layers of polar fleece for the outer layer and one layer of micro for the inner :) It works beautifully.
