Passwords
I used this idea for many years now, I heard it on Oprah many years ago. My kids Have a password that if anyone comes to pick them up, that isn't my husband, my parents or myself. Even if they know the person they are not go with them without it.
They have used it.:smiliedance: A teacher had to bring my daughter home from an event that I was supposed to pick her up from. She would not leave with her teacher without it. They had to ring me and get it. I was so proud of her.
We change the password after each use ( 2 times in fourteen years. ) We use words that are easy to remember but not easy to guess.
thats a great idea actually!
and its even better your child remembered to use it
What an excellent idea. Good on your daughter also for using it!! :yelclap:

that is a great tip , i shall use that one.
also i have another.
NEVER write your child's name on the outside of their school bag. a stranger can see this and walk up to your child and refer to them by name giving them the opportunity to make the child 'think' the person is OK

That is a great idea, and I actually use that for my own sons. I wanted something that wouldn't make them afraid of every single person.
So many kids won't even say hello these days. I don't want my kids thinking that every person they meet is a potential evil kidnapper. My kids know that they can say hello to anyone as long as DH or myself are with them. They know that when they walk to school that they don't talk to anyone.
They know that when they walk to school that they don't talk to anyone.
Thats a bit sad, but at least they are walking to school!
One kid gets kidnapped, and its headlines for months on the other side of the world. Meanwhile millions of kids are overweight, and heading for heart diease, obesity and diabetes.
This person says it well:
