i feel it in my waters this baby isnt going to be born by tomorrow!? its not fair i had 1st DS 3 weeks early now i feel like this baby will never come. i want my baby:crying: NOW.
i went to bed last night wishing i woke up in the middle of the night with the strongest contractions EVER. pfft yeah right.... i feel like if i go overdue im going to go cooky, already im 'daring' the contractions to BRING IT ON!!!!:devil6:
pregnancy goes on for estimated 40 weeks give or take 2 weeks. i SEEN this lil bean implant at the fertility clinic on a certian date. he should technicaly be here by tomorrow, i should be in labour, well any time now:crying:......
:hair: any last minute swear by tricks that got you into labour that doesnt include walking coz seriously i cant walk id rather have sex 5 times than walk down my street again:sleeping:

Relax. The due date is more a guess than a precise amount of time. Your bub might feel only 39 weeks. :p
I thought you were getting induced soon anyway?

Hmmm, I feel your pain - I know what it is like to see your due date come and go by.......
I had DS at 5 days overdue - and the day before I was to be induced we had some serious words at breakfast. Told him if he didn't come out he was going to be forced anyway so he might as well come on out!!!! 11am my waters broke........
Not fun at all! I'm praying I don't go overdue again :fingerscrossed:
:hugs: I know how unpleasant it is - not long now though. Hang in there.

I was overdue by a week.
It really isn't that big a deal. Its frustrating and tiring but the baby doesn't know you picked a day for him to arrive!
You do not HAVE to get induced if you don't want to.
You are not 'overdue'. It sounds like expired, such a weird word to use..
You are just 40 weeks.
That is what you are and it is ok to be that.

and im terrified of tearing and mostly getting cut down there if i see a middy come near me with that tool *shudders* she better watch out for flying legs, seriously i will feel like i will go out of control if i need to be cut its my fear. and the longer baby stays in the fatter he gets i know it all sounds stupid but im scared.
people say you let go and not care during labour, i never let go and i was constantly asking ''am i tearing?'' my whole 1st birth.:crying:

I know you don't wanna walk but walking on a gutter so one leg higher then the other can help irritate cervix although if it's not ripe nothing not even induction is gunna make it happen any sooner :D
Bounce on a fit ball.
Some positive labour vibes for ya :goodvibes::babydust2::goodvibes:
It's ok to be scared, maybe try some visualisation of the labour and birth you want whilst relaxing in bed with music or a bubble bath.
Water helps soften it all up during labour and often contributes to prevention of tearing.
Not so much letting go IMO but rather trusting and allowing your body to do it's thing with acknowledgement that I will know if somethings not right.

Again - :hugs:
I know you must be very uncomfortable and wishing the pregnancy away well and truly - but remember, it's a whole lot more pleasant to have a nice build up to the pain than the induction and BANG right into it.
A good example is my situation right now - I have been 'given' the due date of 19th Nov by scan. Second scan 21st Nov. But I know precisely when I fell pregnant - and 266days from conception is the 23rd Nov. I won't consider myself overdue until past the 23rd Nov. As long as baby and you are doing fine I would try to avoid being induced. You've prob only got a few more days, then a lifetime with your boy!!

I have a bit of a fear of it as well. I was 5 days overdue as I said, and DS was a forceps delivery and an 8lb 2oz baby - no cutting even mentioned to me! All I ended up with was a 2nd degree tear and two little stitches. The OB was most impressed! (Just giving you a positive story :)).

There are positions and things you can use that can help to reduce your risk of tearing or needing an episiotomy. :)
If you would like me to share, let me know.
Oh and I went 7 days overdue and gave birth naturally and normally. It can be done.

Another possie story.
My first was an episiotomy, tear, forceps and subsequent surgery to repair.
I've birthed five more close to 10 pound bubs since then and only ever grazed.
I ensured I was active in labour, used the bath, birthed on all fours and the middie supported the scar tissue with palm of her hand as head presented in four of the births. This last one was unassisted at home in my spa and was the best.
Two of my bubs were 14 days after supposed due dates.

you can share nibble:)
i had a epidural last time so the only position i could be in was on my back, and oh god it was good pain relief but the feeling of being half paralized was so strange, i had no control.
i guess isnt it just the head that can make you tear? once the head is out the rest comes out without a tear?

see i hopwe i can atleast be mobile this time around too, with my boy i was put on the bed, drip induced and not long after giving a epidural so i was just bed ridden the whole time. it would be good to move around.

Its funny reading about how over it women are at 40 weeks! This is my first pregnancy so have no experience with labour and being overdue, but I hope I deal with it okay.
I think I will be okay with it, because if my baby's 2 weeks late, it will be a Pisces instead of an Aquarian, which I would prefer!
Good Luck, hope you go into labour soon!

Oooookay here I go. :)
Position:
Lying on your back is the WORST position for labour.
If you can move around, walk, swim a little in a birth pool, crawl, sway, sit, stand, ANYTHING just moving freely. It all helps the baby descend and helps bub stay calm.
If you are pushing on your back you are VERY likely to tear. It puts pressure on your perineum.
Squatting/Kneeling is the best position as it spreads the pressure evenly and gravity helps too.
BREATHING the baby out helps also. Not straining and pushing but gentle squeezes and letting your body do the work, because it WILL do the work.
Warmth. Its shown that warmth helps skin stretch without tearing.
Warm wet towels with some lavender oil are LOVELY. You can hold them (not PUSH them just hold them) against whatever feels the most pressure and relax and breathe and there is SO much less likelihood of a tear then too.
Epidurals (while it is an individual choice) hinders the pushing stage and labour as well because of the lack of awareness and sensitivity.
You body copes with the 'pain' by letting hormones out and they also help with keeping you calm during the birth.
You do not have to be induced. You can always say 'no, I'd rather not' and refuse.
It is your body and your choice but I wouldn't let them induce me for the world.
Phew. I hope that helps a little bit. :dizzy:

thanks nibble it did help. wow i had none of that, did none of it too, i was cold i remember being cold from the epidural it made me shiver, i got no darn warm wet towels. i was on my back the whole time, i did have one patch over my stomache where the spidural didnt cover so i could feel a contraction come on so that was ok i guess but i think if it wasnt for that i would of been stumpt.
i got a feeling i opt for a epidural because i was induced. i had to be tho over 24hrs before hand my waters broke and my body wasnt doing anything:(.
i feel as though ill need a epidural again but i think its because iv had one before and the thought to feel the pain when i know i dont have to, well sounds inviting:o i also dont like going/feeling out of control i hate showing pain/emotion and i think ya got no choice when in labour with no drugs!.
i think my desicion wether or not ill be induced will depend on how my cervix is looking, if im looking good down there then i will hold off from being induced, i mean if my cerivx is looking great and thinned and soft etc doesnt that mean labour is right around the corner????
but if in one week from now (making me almost 1 week overdue) and my cervix is still not looking good then maybe i should be induced? or does it work the other way around? of course it does, my cervix is not favourable now and thats why they WONT induce. but what the hell they going to do if 14days past due date and still not favourable? they will induce me so why do they say what they say?... anyways i dont want to be induced, i want my baby to be a good boy and wriggle on out tonight:) *+thinking*:p

 Hospitals are generally not about any of that stuff.
I'm glad that was useful to you. That took me my entire second pregnancy to gather!
I hate showing pain too. But it really is a different kind of pain. and as opposed to feeling not in control, you feel VERY in control. Because the idea is to embrace the labour and changes and welcome the baby. Any interference with it can make you feel out of control and start the spiral. :)
Being in control of your body is important. It would allow you to change position without having to ask first. It means that YOU and not the doctors are in control of you.
And really.. Who would you rather have controlling your body, them or you?
I don't really get the whole 'induction before 42 weeks' thing. Babies don't realise that they needed to arrive before 42 weeks! Who told them?
All the best anyway, Sending labour vibes your way! :babydust2:

Hi there
I have been reading your threads lately and getting really excited for you and can say I really can understand how you are feeling. My DD was 11 days overdue and I was over it by my due date.
Saying that I now really regret not enjoying those last precious moments being pregnant, feeling my baby inside me, admiring how big I was and how strong my body was for doing the very thing I was born and made to do. If I could turn back time I would most certainly have rested as much as possible, probably with my hands on my stomach feeling DD move around. I know you have another little one with you but is it possible to try and do something relaxing together? Something like watching a movie or anything that may help you conserve your energy and relax!
I also understand how uncomfortable you probably are. That being said, I bet the minute you start enjoying these last days you will go into labour! As soon as I resigned myself to thought of being pregnant forever lol I was at the hospital begging for the pain to stop and saying I was quite happy for this baby to never come out !
Have a warm bath, play cubby houses with your DS, bounce on the ball anything to try and take your mind off it!
And one last thing, (and sorry if you don't want to hear it) but there is probably about the same chance of tearing now as there is if he stayed in for a bit longer. I have heard of people tearing badly with tiny babies and people not tearing at all with huge ones. And you don't ever have to have nurses come at you with tools! Have you made a birth plan or talked to someone about your fears? If you can't relax then investigate if there is anything at all you can be doing to prevent tearing (something with olive oil maybe or did I just see that in a movie  lol).
I truly hope what I said hasn't upset you or anything and am hoping you have your little man very soon.
Enjoy it please! I'll be stalking the due in August threads!!!
:goodvibes:

I have also heard the more you stress before hand the longer it will be. So hop in a bubble bath with a good book order a pizza and veg out in front of tv and just remember in a few weeks you'll probably be wishing that bubs was still inside:laughing:
Enjoy the bath:bee:

i just got back from the hoispital as she promised she had a look at my cervix and then as shes doing it she says shes just doing a streach and sweep i didnt even know what the hell that was but it made me feel like i was gunna pee myself!
so since then iv been crampy and braxton hick contractions have started up again. i feel like i got period pain and i have slight brown discharge. is this normal? i have got a headache aswel.
my blood pressure was a bit too high, they dont like the idea of me venturing too far overdue so on monday they will apply gell. she says my cervix is 2cm dilated already and very ready for labour and that was before the streach and sweep.
so who knows what the weekend will hold?

i walked in the room she said ''ok we will talk about indiction since your 40wks'' i thought ok, no worries ,she said sit on the bed ill check blood pressure so i did. and then she shut the curtian and said ill check to see how your cervix is going
and then when she was doing it, like already checking she said ''im just going to streach and sweep'' i said ok, i didnt know what it ment lol as i was putting clothes on she said i might bleed but thats normal then it all clicked. so no she didnt ask i thought its just another cervix check, iv had 3 now in one n half weeks.

:fingerscrossed: as others has said i would rather go into labour now than be induced by drip.
today they told me they will do the gell and apply it 2 times if that doesnt work they will manualy break my waters but she thinks i wont need that. i HOPE NOT maybe thats why she did the strech and sweep today.....

I was 15 days overdue and had tried every trick in the book...jumping (with an imaginary skipping rope), rasperry leaf tea for 6 weeks, acupuncture, walking uphill, lots of sex, daily stretch and sweep for 5 days...and was only 3cm dilated (and had been for 4 days)...nothing
I was induced with gel at 9am, in established labour by midday and baby born at 6pm.
The downside was double peaking contractions.
I couldn't wait any longer because my placenta was looking fragile on the ultrasound, despite my wish for no intervention. I was in the birth centre with no pain relief and so I didn't want the drip either.
