hi am 15.5 weeks and getting really bad dizzy spells whenever i stand up..if im sitting or lying down im ok (who gets to do that with a nearly 3yr old to chase after though??)
i feel a bit short of breath as well.
Just wondering if this is normal..or should i be worried? I dont want to leave the house just incase i pass out or something!!

Sorry to add to your confusion but I'm going to say the opposite.
I had similar symptoms when pregnant with my DD and it was me having low blood pressure 95/70. I was faint when I stood up but then it got worse and I would almost pass out just sometimes when standing.
Go to the Dr and get him to test your pressure. I was told to rest, drink lots and lots of fluid and get more sodium (salt) into my diet. I had a huge lunch of KFC chips and Gatorade on that first day:laughing:. Also, if you can, exercise is great so go for a bit of a walk. If you're anything like me though, it's probably the last thing you feel like doing when you are so dizzy.

i got those when i had low blood pressure too. and its pretty common in pregnancy expecially if ur a skinny girl which apparently the midwife said to me i look like id always have it. but i was told to eat more salt and try the sports drinks too.

I had a dizzy spell today, at about 11 oclock this morning i felt sik and dizzy and had to lie down. Even when i rolled over i felt dizzy and felt as if i was goin to pass out, i have a 2 yr old and 5 yr old and they are flat out so i dont get much time to relax, but had to lie down til just b4 and im still feeling dizzy but its not as bad as it was earlier, i have a docs appointment so will be askin her about it then.

I will agree with the last couple of posters - I have had low blood pressure as well and have been told to drink heaps (including sports drinks) and I also make sure I keep up my salt intake etc as well..
I find that if I haven't drunk a heap I start to feel very off - but it only takes a bottle of sports drink to make me feel human again

I had this when I was pregnant also, and my doctor told me it was due to my low iron levels. Have you had your iron levels checked?

Mel, it could be a number of things, and not necessarily blood pressure related...its quite common to have them due to the increased blood that is being produced in your system right now. Make sure to drink a lot of water, and if they continue in the next couple of days, just let your GP know about it. I get them too (def not blood pressure related as mine is completely normal, I check it at home), but find I get them when Im too dehydrated....

I get them all the time as well Mel, but unlike P2B, my blood pressure fluctuates quite a bit. But like she said, it can be attributed to many different things. A quick trip to the docs should shed some light.

Ive had the same thing!
Low blood pressure... and low iron. You probably should go to the Dr and get both checked. :)

Oh I have had the same problem for the past 3 weeks. I have actually almost passed out at the shops twice. The last time being so damn scary it was... well REALLY scary!
I now don't go anywhere without another grown up just incase. As I'm terrified of fainting and DS wondering off or something.
I asked my middie about it and she told me it is completely normal in the second trimester. The blood vessels swell etc. But because there is so much blood flow down there... it can be slow to get to your head.
So in cases of standing up from a lying or sitting position.. do it slowly... yeah right with a toddler on the go.... but it can happen just standing etc. It's your blood pressure dropping due to the blood not getting to your upper body fast enough iykwim.
She told me just to sit down, put my head between my legs and let it all go back to normal.
I did however also go and check my gums and innner eyes for what colour they were... and they were white! They are meant to be a gorgeous pink colour. So I went and got some iron tablets. Needless to say have been feeling a lot better since taking them! And my GP gave me the go ahead to keep taking them... as he reckons every pregnancy woman gets to or gets borderline anemic because of it all!
It is really scary though! :hugs::hugs:
