I am having an NT Scan in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone knows how much I will get back from medicare?
The blood test alone is $105 and the ultrasound plus consultation is $300 so all up its $405:eek:.
I'm happy to pay this but just for budgeting purposes I am wondering how much I will get back from medicare?
Thanks

i think its around 30-40%, u could call medicare to double check though.
my bloods were bulk billed, and my scan was 295, of which i got $95 back.
hope this helps :)

You will be lucky if you get anything back !
Here in Perth I have been told the Nuchal Translucency Scan isnt covered my medicare because it isnt seen as nessasary
Yet people who *choose* to have a 3D scan of thier baby can be partially claimed from medicare, doesnt make sense to me , a 3D ultrasound is optional, and the Nuchal Translucency Scan is a way to know that your baby is doing ok wich to me is more important than a 3D scan
I wonder if it's to do with the mothers age ie it's not seen as a necessary test (for those in the high risk age group) rather you're electing to have it?
just a thought
Mine cost the same as you, and although I havent claimed it back yet, I was told I would get about 40% back

BT is bulk billed and I am going have NT next Tuesday and am told it's about $160, and will get $100 back from Medicare. Do shop around, I think different imaging center charges differently, but sometimes you don't get to have a choice as some hospital prefers you go to certainly centers.
