Hi, wondering if anyone can help. Would like to move out and ave very limited cash and NO furniture- can anyone suggest any cheap alternatives rather than getting brand spanking new stuff (although I'd really like it)- but still would like reasonable nice things!

you could try the trading post or garage sales or secondhand stores.
ebay too.
if you need whitegoods you can always go through radio rentals/rentlo. have my fridge and wasing machine through them. we are rent - buying it only 8 more months to go :smiliedance:
Fantastic furniture always have some good packages and you can pay them off too!
Also look out for garage sales in your area, sometimes ppl have moving sales and they get rid of a house full of furniture really cheap!
Hi, why not try an Ikea if you have one close, you can get some stuff cheaper because you have to put it together yourself or try some garage sales or factory warehouses. Good luck :fingerscrossed:
I'm another fantastic furniture fan.... most of my house is decked out in their gear because its not too bad for the price you pay....
I got a table and four chairs for $120, very modern looking.... a coffee table and entertainment unit for about $150 all up..... a matching cube wall unit for $200.... matching computer desk for $100.... Lounge for $300..... and they have great sales at stocktake time too!
I have a tallboy, and two bedsides too that I think were prob less than $300 for the set
Garage Sales
Notice boards (local shopping centres)
Local Paper
Trading post
E bay
Salvation Army
St Vincent De Pauls
Tips/Dumps....(some ppl throw out really good stuff)

Wow, thanks everyone. This has been really helpful.
Try Ikea, they have a seconds shop next to the main store (blast my pg brain is forgetting the name)... we bought an entertainment unit and it was scratched, but now it's all put together the scratches are all hidden. You can also bargain with them but need to make sure you can take it home as they won't hold it for you. You can get lucky... or you might not see anything suitable... we knew what we wanted and bingo they had it.

We got all our stuff from Super Amart...we brought it all about 5years ago and its all still looks brand new and is very stylish (everyone thinks we brought our stuff from Freedom and presume its all expansive..they always comment on out house looking so 'posh' )
If you can save up around $2500/3000 you can get a big furniture package with everything....at least two big couches/cushions table and chairs/tv cabinet and coffee table and display cabinet!! plus there is stacks of styles and choices! (and I havent needed to buy anything else cos its all complete) (heheh i'm making it sound like I work there and am promoting..but i'm not...I just found them fantastic..and if you pay up front in cash you can get a big discount..remember to bargin!!)
Good luck!:fingerscrossed:

Hi there,
Try finding and joining your local Yahoo Groups FreeCycle list - its a list of people in your local area advertising free stuff to give away. We just got today a 2 x 2 seater and 2 x recliners through this, they are still in great condition and the people giving them away couldn't get rid of them! My partner had a ute so within half and hour we had a new lounge suite. I don't mind that it's second hand - with 2 x toddlers and 1 on the way it is pointless to buy something brand new.
Hope this helps.
