Hi,

My DD is 3 months old and we are now considering moving her to her own room. She has already made the transition from bassinet to a cot and that was fine. The only problem is that we are also moving house in a couple of weeks and I am worried that all the moving may be too disruptive and may impact her sleeping (she currently goes down at 7pm, feeds between 12-1am and then sleeps until 5-6am).

She has recently started to sleep in this routine (which has meant that I can again eat dinner with my husband and have a bit of a life) and so I am a bit wary of the move.

If anyone has any advice or past experience to share that would be great! Thx

If I was in your situation, I would probably just wait until you move. Moving her now, and again when you move house may be too much for her. When you move, she has to get used to a new environment regardless of which room she is in. Considering it isnt that far away, I'd wait.

We just moved house with 2 dds (2.5 and 6mos) ... the move coincided with a SEVERE downturn in dd2's sleep ... going from one wake a night to six or so! Admittedly this actually started a week before the move (sickness, etc) but I don't think the move helped any in her getting back on an even keel.

We used the move to get her into her own room too ... this seems to have been QUITE enough for her to cope with at one time. I'd be in the "wait and do it all at once" camp too, or even keep her in your room for another couple of weeks after the move.

One thing to think about when you do move her into her own room ... playing some soft music or some white noise or something for a few nights, I found that helped (a little!) with our Tiny Girl - her new room was too quiet for her!

good luck!

I agree with everyone else, move bub into her own room when you move house.

I moved house when DS was 9mths, 13mths and again just before his 2nd birthday and never had any problems with him adjusting to the new house. He just didn't seem to really notice...or he is just one of those bubs who copes really well with that sort of thing :)

Gook luck with moving house :)

Thanks Guys!

makes sense to definately wait until the move. I think I might try keeping her in our room for the first night or two then move her into her own room. We'll see how it all goes

Definately not looking forward to all the packing though...:(
