Hi all
Quick question... for those of you who have used OPKs do you tend to get a positive surge result before, during or after you get O pain?

Ive only started believeing that I excperience O pains in the past several months after working alongside a bunch of girls that would complain of it all the time. Before that I had no idea about O pains existing.. so I still wonder if I imagine them or not LOL
However last month my OPK+ came, then I had pains afterwards. So again dunno if I imagined it or not. I didn't specifically sit & go "ok.. got OPK+ means im O'ing.. i must be due for pains... pains... pians... any?... pains... oh there we go!" hehe.
I did notice the pain out of the blue & then thought to myself.. "Oh pain... Oh OPK+ so must be O pain!"
I have to say it's the only pain i've enjoyed having rofl

I've always had O pains but like you, wasn't sure where they fitted in with the OPKs. Two cycles ago I used OPKs and when I had the positive result I had the O pains not too long after. SO I guess it's all relative as to when you take the test. I did mine at 7pm each night and tend to get the pains during the late evening.
Not sure if that helps but it has made me think the pain is when egg is releasing. I guess the OPK is right in picking up the hormone surge that makes the egg release from the cyst which is the pain! Gee... I hope that doesn't make me sound as simple as I feel .
Good luck with your TTC journey!

Thank you Socko/Sam! Admittedly every twinge I get in my pelvic region I put down to either O or AF, anything being down to wind or dehydration isn't even on my radar heh!
I'm on CD22 today and only just now have felt a faint twinge. I started the OPKs on CD19 and it had a faint line which has now disappeared completely so I'm guessing I just missed my big LH day. I only had EW on CD20 though so I'm a ltitle confused as to when it's all happening. If that witch turns up this month then next month I'll OPK every darn day!

SammiAnn has just reminded me on something I meant to write in my coment.
The OPK will detect the LH surge which is what triggers O. Therefore O will always happen after ur OPK+.. anywhere up to approx 36 hrs later. Perhaps even a little longer in rare cases.
The pain we experience is the release of the egg from the follicle thru our ovaries & into our F/T. The travel of the egg is not felt. Therefore O pains can increase if we O more thn one egg etc.
I went thru all this with my FS recently.
So i'm safely assuming that O pains will almost always occur after OPK+.
Hope it helps? :bee:

Great thread!
I was so suprised when I started charting as I always have had servere O pain all my adult life and I always assumed it was on O day or just before it. Turns out my O pain comes 2 days after o was detected by my temps!

OK my FS explained to me that one u get an OPK+ to stop testing as it means it has detected the surge & that he Ovary will be ready to release the egg within the next 36hrs.
Therefore if U had a OPK+ on CD19, you are still inside a window of fertility so don't give up yet!
My FS is so positive about it all & he says to us, if we can handle it, BD as much as possible (we BD 1.5 days apart around fertile times) before during & after for as long as possible. Cos ya just ever know hehe There's plenty of time to catch that egg!

Hi agani Socko
It was a REALLY faint line on CD19 which was the first day I tried it out so I'm guessing that was the tail end if since then there has been no sign of a line at all?
Love the 1.5 day BDing, that's nice and precise :D
