yerrrp, starting to panic a little. i had a huge heffer head and it seems that it runs in my family but im just really really hoping that maybe its just a little hiccup in baby's development that will return to normal by the time its due :o
Has anyone else had this and baby has ended up measuring all normal by the end? And is it likely they will suggest c-section if the head gets too big? i really really dont want a c-section, but that too runs in the family due to big babies so not feeling overly confident :(

em1984, have they ruled out IUGR?
That is head sparing (until it becomes very bad). Did they talk to you about it.
And is the body measuring normally for dates?

Oh Ok, IUGR is Inter Uterine Growth Retardation (or restriction) and it's when for some reason the baby isnt getting the nurtients they need so their body sends all the nutrients to the head (hence the term head sparing) and the body doesnt grow.
My son had this as I was very sick in my pregnancy and the placenta wasnt functioning well.
His body was 2 weeks behind though so sounds like you bub is ok being 1 or 2 days behind.
If all the women in your family have VB big headed babys I am sure you will be adle to do the same!

scans can be way out:yes:
have you looked into different birth positions?

Yes I also agree, scans can be way out, at the moment, something of my baby is measuring bigger than the rest,
But with my first baby, I had no idea of my last period date, and the scans gave her due date as almost 3 months after she was born, so go figure,

both my boys heads measure anything up to around 4 weeks ahead with their heads i think, they came out 36.5cm and 36cm
the skull isnt fused together, so as the baby goes through the birth canal it becomes smaller so bubs can fit out, trust you body, trust your baby, they both know what they are doing:wave::flowerz:

I had a scan at 34 weeks and they said the head was measuring 3 weeks ahead. My DS was born 11 days past his due date and weighed 3.8kg with a 34.5cm head circ. Hardly big! And he was almost 2 weeks late!
Scans can be way out, but I'm sure your Dr will keep an eye on it.

Hi Em.
Don't panick!
My bubb is now two months old. His head is in the 50th percentile for size (when compared with all other bubbs his age. His weight is in the 90th percentile and his height is in the 75th percentile!! Big head maybe means he'll be brainy? ;)

thanks guys :) youve definitely made me feel better to know im not the only one who has been told this! i do trust my body, and i have complete faith in myself that i can birth naturally, its just other peoples reactions i think when i told them, one of my gf's even said 'oh no your poor vagina'! so was feeling a bit nervous... fingers crossed i can successfully squeeze this brainy little bub out :D
