Hi all,
I had a bad few days were I couldn't cope with my ms, so I got a prescription for Maxalon tablets.
They did make my morning sickness managable after a couple of days taking the tablets, but the side effects were huge!

I was struck down with worse headaches and this bone dead wearyness that made it painfull to do anything. I couldn't look after DD:no:
Today I chose not to take my tablets and deal with the ms instead of the other things, but luckily my ms has gone!:yelclap:

Anyone else have these problems with the tablets?

I don't remember having side-effects from Maxolon. But by the time I was prescribed it I was in a pretty bad way anyway.

Medicines will effect different people different ways.
If you can get away with not taking it at all then power to you!

Maxalon and me don't mix. It keeps me awake. If i take maxalon, i can't sleep for days.. It also makes me very agitated and i get anxiety attacks.

I was on maxalon a few weeks back, the ms just got so bad I couldn't even keep water down, DH was working away from home and we have no relatives within 10 hours drive so I had a 3 yr old to care for not to mention myself. Just wasn't coping at all. Maxalon saved my life.

I was actually able to keep food down, care for Tom and do some housework, I did have 1 big side effect though! I was sooo sleepy all the time on it. I could only take 1 tablet a day, just so I could get some food into myself in the morning but couldn't take another after that wore off or I'd sleep all day! Not good with a 3 yr old tornado in the house.

Anyway it got me through the worst of the ms, I don't know how I could have got through that without it.

I also found I had the aggitatedness, I wanted just to sit or sleep but I couldn't stay still for some reason.

I feel bad for taking it now as I just read in a book that nausea medications can cause birth defects. :(

Poor Thing!

I had 24 hour morning sickness from week 5 right up until 18 weeks (about 2 weeks ago) and have to tell you that it was dreadful!!!!:(

Maxalon did nothing to help my m/s but gave me side affects too - i was so freaking tired i couldnt function, i had headaches, was hot & cold all the time & felt just plain yuck. In the end i soldiered through it & am so glad its over!

If it gets too bad the doc said you can go get a vitamin b injection in the bum, this apparently works wonders!

Good luck hun:hugs:

Aw morning sickness, hopefully I won't get it this time.

With DD I took Maxalon from 5 weeks to about 26 weeks as I had extreme morning sickness to the point of having a massive supply of plastic bags in the car because most days I couldn't even make it to work as well as being sick at work all day and I couldn't quit because we needed the money. It was fantastic for me, no side affects at all but as soon as I tried to stop taking it :barf:

:fingerscrossed: it stays away for you

I am 7.5 weeks pregnant with my first and am suffering killer ms too. Horrible isn't it! However, Maxolon has been a lifesaver for me. I'm tired but it's far better than the nausea so I'm happy to stick with it! :) It hasn't taken away the nausea fully but at least I can do a days work without wearing a path to the facilities.

Maxalon saved my life.

I don't know how I could have got through that without it.

:yelclap:Yes, same here, I wasn't able to eat or drink at all and was sent straight to emergency for rehydration at my 5 month app. Ahh it was horrible. Maxalon gave me a new pregnancy, I was a bit tired, but got through my University ok thanks to it.

I was a little worried about the possible side effects to the baby though..? Anyone heard of them? I don't know my mum is an old nurse and made me paraniod because I was taking it 3-4 times a day.
Also, Prednisilone or something was prescribed to me for hyperem. Its a type of steriod so I ended up not taking it.

In the past there was a morning sickness medication commonly used that was later found to cause serious birth defects so many people have been cautious about morning sickness meds. Maxalon has been around for a very long time and no problems have yet been linked to it, I trust it but still choose only to use what I absolutely needed.

I agree with what you're saying, the main drug that caused defects was Thalidomine. This was also at a time when we (as a society) didn't have a lot of scanning procedures to enable us to see any possible effects.

However, Maxalon has been around a similar time as Thalidomine with no apparent side effects on children so you're safe to take it. Personally it did nothing for my 24 hour ms that I had until week 27 I took Ondansetron which is a lot stronger than Maxalon and also meant I didn't have to take so many (half a tablet did me for the day whereas 3-4 tablets of Maxalon did nothing)...

You have to go with what your Doctor prescribes and what works for you. There are side effects with everything we take and what may work for one person may not work for another. Its all very trial and error.

i too took Ondansetron- half a wafer in the morning and i was set for the day- no side effects for me

maxalon made me extremely agitated- i felt i need to rip it out of my skin it was so bad- and it made me crash out and sleep- cant do that with 2 kids

thank god ms was over by 15 weeks as Ondansetron is about $8 per tablet
