Given that half the advice I rely on from this site is from people on the other side of a very large country, I don't think that being on the other side of the world is much different - and you might get some different perspectives from this site, so welcome and enjoy! (And don't get too jealous of our weather along the way!!) :D

Hi

I am also from the UK been out here for about 4 years. Feeling very homesick at the moment as all my family are back in England :( . I usually manage a trip home every August but not this year as Bubs No 1 is due to put in an appearance at the end of July!

I lived in and around London for a long time and loved it! Adelaide is just a tad quieter - would be perfect if I could ship friends and family out to live!! Also M&S foodhall would be good :D

Nice to chat

I've been here in Oz since I was 3 years old (ie for 35 years - good grief, I sound like an antique!) but 95% of my family are still in Leicestershire. I was last there in 2000 (ie pre-kids).

And yes, it was wet and foggy. And the beer was warm. And the petrol was expensive. And I REALLY don't like black-pudding but mushy peas are great.

Luckily we have an English Sweet Shop in Adelaide so I can indulge in pear drops, Cadbury Buttons (we have Cadbury choc but it tastes different) and Bassetts stuff. Alas, no Munchies though. Or proper Fruit Gums. But they do stock Tizer & Irn Bru!!!

Hi
I'm English too and have lived in regional Victoria for 5 years. I'm married to an Aussie lad and we are expecting our first in 8 weeks. I'm originally from London but spent 7 years at boarding school in Oxford. Although I don't miss London I loved living there and there are certain aspects that I miss. My husband and I are always saying how we miss the cosy little pubs and I have to say I'm not as fit as I was living in England as I used to walk everywhere where as over here we drive all over the place.

Hi Manxie. The shop is in James Place off Rundle Mall. I think it's called Lollipops. Haven't seen Double Deckers but then again I haven't looked for them.

thanks for the info, yeah weve got couple of ol English shops around the neighbourhood, but its not the same if we didnt get em from Marky&Spencer!

By the way, is Will for William? My older brother who's an Ob also William but we called him Willow Tree coz he's like 6'4!!

Pls don't take the Willow Tree joke as an offence :)

Yep. He is a William. And the Willow Tree thing is quite funny, cos he is a tiny little thing. 5th % for height & weight. Our surname starts with G so we call him WillyG (Like Ali G the comedian).
