Q about slow cookers

I'm trying to use my (old) slow cooker that Ive never used. It has been on for 1hr and a half and the out side is hot but the stuff inside is still cold. Is that normal? how long does it take for the stuff inside to get hot? Just wondering if I'm using it right.

Not sure if this will help but I am not sure how long it takes mine to heat up in the middle but you aren't supposed to lift the lid while it is cooking as it lets all the heat out :shame: well that what my instructions say anyway.......I have not experimented greatly with mine and only cook Chicken and Vegie Soup with it - will have to try some of the recipes that are mentioned on the website.

Anyway - hope it all works out :fingerscrossed:
