This is a hypothetical question for all you baby wearers out there:

I am a big fan of baby wearing and used a BabyBjorn with DS when he was little (I know the controversy about it being bad for their spine, but I don't want to get into this discussion here and according to my chiro DS' spine is healthy as) and now have an Ergo, which we both love (DS is 14 months).
If I were to have another baby at some point in the future (currently trying to ease DP into the idea of maybe trying for #2 in another year or so) I would like to use something other than the BB due to weight distribution issues once bubs gets a bit bigger, but I'm not convinced about using the Ergo for a newborn. I've seen it once or twice and it just didn't look like the head was properly supported.
Also, I'm not too fond of slings, due to their uneven weight distribution on one shoulder. So I've been looking at wraps, but it all looks so complicated! I'm a very impatient person and love the convenience of clips and straps.
So my question is: How hard is it to get used to tying a wrap and to get it right, i.e. not too loose? And what type of fabric is easier, a stretchy or firm one?

I got a hug-a-bub and it was amazing!!!
I used it from birth til around 10 months, but a lot more frequently at the start. I felt DD head was well supported, you can even bend over and they stay close to you.

I had no issues getting it on either, just watch the video and after a couple of practice runs you'll get it right every time. Its easy to wash too.

I made something similar to a Franken-Kozy. Its one woman's adaptation on a Kozy Carrier and I adapted it from there.

It is WONDERFUL. Similar to a Mei Tai but not..

Its like a Tie on carrier. :)

Maybe google that if you are interested.

I also cannot use a sling because of the uneven distribution and my back.

Another hug a bub fan!
It took me 3 watches of the video to get used to putting it on (practiced these 3 watches in a row and did it as i was watching it) It is so easy to do for me now, and i LOVE it. I just tuck his head in when needed and he is safe as! It is so comfortable! I used it with DS2 up until he was about 8 months or so, but could have used it longer!

I use a hug a bub kind of sling, but I made it myself...well, MADE it is a bit strong - I got 5 metres of fabric and cut it into a 50cm width! I couldn't get it for the life of me - for ages! I got so impatient I gave up and put it away. When I got it out for one last go, I got it!! :) as soon as I got it once it was sooo easy! now even in a shopping centre carpark I can get it on in seconds. I love my ergo (and used it since DS was 3 weeks), but I have to say the wrap is THE most comfortable carrier EVER! I found the best fabric to be one with 1 way stretch, in the width not the length, and not too thick as it will be bulky once you tie it if it is. T-Shirt material works fantastically!
