Do I fit in here. Not quite Illawarra but I doubt there is a south coast TTC list. I'll let you know tomorrow if I'll be on the list. Depending on DH's test results. We want another one but our life is on hold till then.

No worries chunkydunks. I have been reading ur journey recently & my heart goes out to u & ur hubby & family. Hope all goes well :)

I'd love to add u so im not all my my lil lonesome hehe.... Just thought i'd narrow down the TTC threads for a more "intimate" chat with locals etc. Been reading some very interesting stuff in the threads bout W'gong Hospital.

If and when we have another one I'll more than likely end up giving birth in Nowra. I have a feeling I'd be considered too high risk to have a "trouble free" birth. Milton hospital doesn't have an anithatist (sp) ATM so all high risks have to go to nowra.

Ah ok.. so your nearer to Milton? I used to live in Batemans Bay & had found a lovely Dr a couple of years before I moved to Syd.. wish I coulda taken him with me cos he was the best guy. LOL
Finally found a good Dr that got to the bottom of my problems of TTC in Syd, however moved from there as well. DOH! I still trvel back to see him if not urgent, thankfully it hasn't been bad. I am however needing to find a GP that does care here & I am very apprehensive.
I hate meeting new drs that give u the spiel on weight issues etc & having me feel bad after leaving. Knowing I need a GP then eventually (hopefully) an OB/Peadiatrician etc scares me when I know noone here.

19-08-2008, 00:50
Its all very daunting meeting new drs and all. We haven't been in Mollymook long but my family have lived here for about 7 years. That made it easier to find drs cos of the recommendations from them and their friends. Although none of them know the current dr we're dealing with cos she's new but when it comes to the time that i am pregnant only 2 drs in town do the OB side of things. Both come highly recommended and will be at the birth IF you give birth in Milton.

The only dr that ever lectured me on the weight thing was the gyn that diagnosed me with PCOS. Other than that I always tell them straight up that I know I have to lose weight and I'm working on it. Shuts em up pretty quick.

Understood.

MMook, nice area :) Hope you like it there.

BBay was similar with Dr's etc.

I am obese, have PCOS, am only 148cm tall & am told for medical reason I will most probably need a C Section. I hope Shellharbour Hosp. look after me well LOL

I hear ya there.

I'm 155cm and 110kgs, have PCOS, am diabetic (to what extent I find out tomorrow) and generally have no energy. i find it hard to maintain the house let alone do exercise.

I'd love to go back to Canberra or even my home town of Cootamundra to give birth. The latter because a family friend is a middy there and I'd love for her to attend my birth. I had DS at Calvary in Canberra and loved it. They were great. Not looking foward to the hour long trip while in labour if I have to go to Nowra.

19-08-2008, 01:04
Yeh I guess in ur DH situation u cant make the trip to Coota & stay for the birth. That would have been nice... say!... maybe ur friend can get a working holiday over here?? LMAO ;)

Hi guys,

Hope you don't mind if I join to? I'm a Lake Illawarra gal and my partner and I have just started TTC. I too have PCOS and have been told that I will have issues falling naturally (without any drugs etc) but am determined to prove them all wrong. It's only our first month trying, but we have been planning and saving for the past 12 months. So feels like this has been going on FOREVER!

Was wondering what the medical side of it was like here in the 'Gong. Have heard some horror stories about Wollongong Hospital and wasn't sure what Shellharbour were going to do with their ward? Am also looking to find a new specalist as well. There's one in Wollongong I see but am not too happy with him. Can any one recomend anyone?

Cheers
Kaz

Hi Kaz:wave:, good luck ttc! I liked my midwifes at gong hosp - saw them all thru pregnancy, and they delivered my bubs too. Lots of horror stories about the maternity ward once youve had bub though - i try and get out asap!!! Not to sure about a good specialist, but im sure someone else can help you there.

We are midcycle atm, so we have a few fun nights ahead of us:laughing:
Hows everyone else going????

I'm in the tww. I couldn't believe that something actually happened this month. Part of me thinks yes but part of me is doubtful. It was the first time we'd dtd in a while. I'm pretty sure I o'd the following day so :fingerscrossed:. I'm also hoping I get my BFP this month because FIL is here and I really don't want AF visiting while he is here:laughing:. Dh is slightly confidant too which is keeping my hopes up. If it doesn't happen to be my month I'll be enbarking on a 1 week detox and then serious weight loss plan. Also next week I have my appointment with the diabetic nurse and the week after my appointment with the endocrinologist. Looking forward to getting on some meds to help out with that.

So in all I can officially be put on the list:D

BTW I'm in Mollymook. Not quite Illawarra but there isn't a South coast TTC list.

Hows everyone else doing?

chunkydunks: I'm so excited to have u on the list :D Fingers crossed u have a wonderful outcome this month. Don't forget there's plenty of support around here regardless of the outcome, tho im sure u dont need me reminding u this ;) lol.

kazza76: Have added you as well to the list.
How long have u been living in LI?

blueones: I am waiting to O this cycle so I'm hoping i'm almost mid cycle too hehe. Just think.. u'll be joining chunkydunks in the 2ww shortly! Enjoy ur BDing sessions w00t w00t

I have merely been in Flinders since Feb this year so currently am looking for a GP & what not here as well. Currently I travel back to Syd to see my GP there as I haven't got any clue who to go to here. I went to the super medical centre at Shellharbour recently with DF sick but to be blunt, I hated the fact I had to walk thru the sick patients waiting just to get to the pharmacy & even tho theres like 12 GPs there, we couldn't even get an appointment that day but were told to come back at 7pm to sit & wait. I understand busy Dr's get booked out but this is just ridiculous. We actually got in to see a GP in Warilla within a few hours.
As for my FS, I wouldn't give him up for the world! LOL We travel to see hin in Syd too, in Carlton. He is an Endocrinologist/Gynocologist. Professor John Eden who is a pionerr in the treatment of PCOS, so definately don't wanna loose him hehe.

Am a little scared & apprehensive about the poor treatment stories i'm reading about Wollongong Hospital which seems to be the only place to birth a child in the Illawarra.

Hope you're all well & happy. Say hi to ur DH's for me

Hi Socko/Ladies

Well I have only been living in LI for about two months now, But grew up in Barrack Heights and then moved to Sydney when I was 19. I lived up there with my best friend for about 11 years and then one weekend when I came back to Shellharbour for a friends birthday party, I met this guy and who "rocked my world" and we have been together ever since. I sold my place up in Sydney 6 months later and we have been living around the Wollongong area for the past two years. We decided to move to LI to be closer to both our families.

I don't REALLY have a GP down this way. I see a doctor at Lakeside medical centre who has taken care of my family for a few years now and was really good when my dad passed away last year suddenly. But it's really hard to get in to see her. My usual specalist is Prof. John Eden as well, but going up to Hurstville all the time to see him was just getting too much. Plus he can be hard to get in to see as well. I went and saw Dr Moses the other week in Wollongong (yes I know all the stories about him) and am due to go back in 8 weeks after my next GTT. HOPEFULLY when I go back to him I will be pregnant and do the whole "I told you so"

We are only in our first month of trying and my "most fertile" days are supposed to be from next Tuesday to Saturday. So will be interesting to see what happens. I remember seeing the signs of ovulating when I wasn't on the pill, so will be interesting to see if it happens now that I am off it. :fingerscrossed:

Ladies in here at work have told me about Wollongong hospital and have told me horror stories about it, but I have also heard some pretty good stuff as well. My bosses wife is a midwife up there, but obviously I can't ask him about it just yet because well 1. we are still trying and 2. I don't want him to know that we ar trying just yet :)

Thanks for the insight, kazza76 :)

I understand the not-wanting-to-travel story. I am almost at the point where I am over it. But as said before I definately won't give up Prf. Eden in a hurry hehehe. We lived in Mortdale for 2.5 years before moving here this Feb. Before that DF lived in Fremantle WA & I lived in Batemans Bay. We moved there from Sth Hurstville when I was around 7. I was born in Kogarah & when I was living in Syd I was hoping my baby would be born there too. Oh wells hehe.

Chunkydunks, I  to you twice today as I passed thru the roundabout on the Highway heading to Batemans Bay then back again LOL.
I went & picked up my mum who is going to stay with us for 2 weeks. That'll be nice :D

 Socko. I probably wasn't even at home. Tell you what this tww is flying cos I just haven't had a chance to scratch my bum. Yesty I caught up with a friend from school (how awesome was it seeing her again:smiliedance:) and was running my parents around as well as my SIL (by choice) so I barely sat for 5 mins all day but it was good.

Feeling a little less confidant that this will be my month because I'm getting all my normal AF signs and she's de on Tuesday. Still wishing I was though.

Hows everyone else doing?

Hi ladies,

Well according to my calender, I SHOULD be OV from next Tuesday. So I'm guessing my partner and I should be having a go from Sunday, is that right? I read that you should have sex a couple of days before you OC and every second day during OV? The calender says I should be at my most firtile from Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th. So :fingerscrossed:. I would be SO happy if we fell in our first month of trying but I realise the chances of that happening, especially with the PCOS are pretty slim. But I can hope right? :)

Hope everyone is well

We can all hope Kaz!!!!

We BD when we can. With Dh's pain its not a very common occurence. They do say its preferable to BD every second time around the time of O. Have fun :p

kazza76
31-08-2008, 17:58
I think I need to tell DH that it's not necessary to BD ALL weekend! He needs to save it up for next week for when it really counts! Shish, twice in one day is even a bit too much for me!

Am very excited. I noticed CM started today. I haven't seen that for about 3 years (I guess since I have been on the pill so didn't O) It's quite funny actually, I had no idea what that stuff was until about two months ago when I read it up in a TTC magazine. It all makes sence now! lol. Although, I was diagnosed PCOS when I was 13 and was told that I wouldn't O, yet I remember it happening just about every month when I was single and not on the pill. Can't work that one out. Think I might have to have a chat with the specialist in October about that one (that is of course if I am not :bfp: already!) :)
Have been doing the STRANGEST things lately. I left the gas cook top on today when we went out. It was only when we got back an hour later that DH noticed it. I NEVER do anything like that. I've forgotten the easiest things, like band names, movie titles....and just now the potatos I am roasting in the oven..oops. What's wrong with me? Surely it can't be baby brain already?! I don't even think I am pregnant yet! Perhaps there is SO much on my mind at the moment that I can't seem to focus on anything else but having a baby?
Are you lardies finding that?

Anyway. Good luck to everyone this week. Wish me luck that Tuesday is egg day!:fingerscrossed:

Hey luvlies

I'll be testing on thursday or friday if AF hasn't shown up by then. She's due tomorrow though. I'm not feeling very pregnant though so not confidant at all. But then again i'm not feeling very much like AF is due. Weird.

How was everyones weekend? My grandparents were in town so it was quite good. Oh that is apart fromt he blow up between my sister and SIL . Don't you love it when family gets nasty:D

Hey Chunkydunks

Good luck for tomorrow :fingerscrossed: I hope every thing comes back positive! :D That would be exciting!
My weekend was pretty quiet. Went and visited DH's father and did some fishing, other then that we just relaxed. Pretty boring actually.
Have been feeling really funny all day. Had a headache since this morning and feel SO tired. Almost like I have had one too many glasses of wine the night before. Not quite a hangover, not quite a clear head if you know what I mean. I don't think it means anything though. Nothing is suppsoed to happen till tomorrow. Which reminds me, I had a bit of CM over the weekend, then nothing today. Surely that doessn't mean I O over the weekend? Guess I will find out over the next couple of days.
:hugs: for tomorrow!

Started spotting today...well in the last 30 mins really. Its still (TMI warning) brown spotting at this stage but that usually marks the start of AF. I'm not disappointed. In fact I'm pleased because I"m not even on meds for my diabetes and I'd like to get that sorted before I fall pregnant. Also I wasn't comfy going through it at 90kgs with DS. I'm now 111kgs. I'd hate to think what it'd be like at this weight. So I'd like to lose a bit too. Oh well looking forward to getting back on track soon.

Hows everyone else?

kazza76
03-09-2008, 08:48
Hey everyone!

Sorry to hear about the spotting chunkydunks :hugs: but your right, it's a new start again for the month. I was pretty upset the first period after coming off the pill, but I looked at it as a big clean out ready to start again! :)

Well it seemed I had jinxed DH on Monday night, I was across the other side of the Indoor cricket court when he was batting and I heard the destinct noise of ball hitting protection cup, then everyone yelling Ohhhh are you alright? and turning around to see DH huddled over. Thankfully the cup did it's job! But I panicked for a second there.

A friend of mine had given me this saliva tester to try agers ago. To try and help predict O. So I decided to try it Monday night, It came back a big fat nothing. So either I have gotten my dates wrong, or my PCOS is going haywire again. So I went out at lunch yesterday and bought OPK. I tried it at work and again NOTHING. But in saying that, I had had a litre and a half of water before hand. So got up this morning and tried again. And the test line showed up. Not to mention that I have started feeling damp "down there" sorry, TMI with CM starting to make its way back. But I am not holding my breath. I have already told DH that I think we may have missed the boat this month and I will wait for AF to come on the 19th and start again.

Wow, That's a long post. Sorry about that.

So Chunkydunks. Are you on Metformin? If you don't mind me asking, why have you stoped your diabetic meds?

:flowerz:Kaz

Chunkydunks
03-09-2008, 10:28
I haven't stopped its just that I've only recently been diagnosed and the GP wanted to wait till I see the Endocrinologist to work out doses for met and all that stuff. I have an appointment today with the diabetic nurse and then next tuesday with the Endo. I should be on meds from then on.

kazza76
03-09-2008, 16:55
Ohhh I thought you were on it. oops :o. Well I have decided to go back to my original doctor in Sydney (Prof Eden) as I think this guy down here in wollongong is an idoit. I managed to score an appointment next week. That's before my next AF due so he might be able to help me with next months effort and you never know :fingerscrossed: I have gone back on the Metformin again today as well. I'm sure coming off that is half the problem.

So how long has everyone been TTC?

Chunkydunks
05-09-2008, 13:41
We've been trying on and off for 3 years now. Getting a bit tiresome but we'll get there eventually. I found out the other day that I'm not actually diabetic but pre diabetic which is great news for me. My GP is still talking of putting me on metformin though to help with TTC and because I'm high risk. We'll see what happens when I see the endo next week. I've already started losing weight. 1kg in the last 3 days which I'm pretty wrapped in. I'll probably do another work out today because I did a pseudo (sp) rush (I take a couple of sudafed with energy drinks). I don't do this often but once a month or so I need a kick up the bum to get moving and today was one of those days.

I just can't wait to have another bub. I think DS will make a great big brother. He's so facinated with little ones. Lets hope he's the same when its here all the time .

Hows everyone else doing???

05-09-2008, 13:52
Hi everyone.

You know I have never heard anyone doing the pseudo rush before Chunkydunks. Does it make you feel sick at all?
Well done on the weight loss. I know how hard the journey can be believe me! When I first went on to Metformin (for insulin resistance) I was 135 kilos. I now sit about 85 (on a good day ) and feel soo much better for it. Though I still find it really hard to resist the bad foods :)

All is going well here. Had my strongest result on the OPK today. Plus the EWCM is a bit hard to miss! DH and I BD last night and will tonight and tomorrow night in hope of catching the egg :fingerscrossed: It's my dad's birthday in two weeks and it's just before I am due to test. Would love to say I am UTD on that day as it will help my mum get through the day allot more (my dad passed away suddenly last year) and put a smile on her face hopefully. She's been waiting for MONTHS for us to start trying. I'm just trying to remain positive for the month and hope for the best :)

Hia ladies,
My name is Lisa and I am 26 live at Fairy Meadow and have a beautiful 16month old DD. DH and I started TTC no.2 about 2 months ago. I have PCOS and wa actually having a 28 day cycle (which never happened before) for 5 months while still B/F. And as soon as we started AF was a month late etc. I went for an ultrasound on my ovaries the other day and there is still cysts there. I have a Dr;s appoinntment in a few weeks to get the full results.

With DD it took metformin and clomid to fall as I did not O by myself so I imagine it will be the same this time around.

I also need to loose a few kgs I am 167cm and weight 85kgs. I plan on starting to diet and go walking today since it is such a lovely day.

I have lost 15kgs since having DD and got down to 80kgs but have put 5kgs back on since winter started.

As for Wollongong hosptial. They were ok, I was induced went through 10hrs of intense labour and had only dialated 3cm so ended up having an emergency c-sect. So next time I think I will just have a c-sect. I would never personally want to be induced again. But then you hear people have great success being induced.

Anyway looking forward to all of us getting BFP very soon.

Hi Socko.

Yep. John hit the mark yet again. We are very happy. I was supposed to see him three days after I tested positve for a chat about other methods of falling pregnant. I had to call and cancel the appointment and he was all, "what's going on. Have you changed your mind" etc. He laughed when I told him I was pregnant thanks to him. He even sent us a nice card and said I had to bring bubs in after it was born.

Welcome aboard!

I haven't used Clomid so I can't offer any advice on it. However there are lots of ppl on BH that have.

I hope everything goes well for you with your tests & you pop back in often. We are yet a small group but all in a similar boat. Hopefully we can share stories & advice.

We have been referred by Prf John Eden to the Sydney IVF clinic at St George Private to see Prf Micheal Chapman.

We are looking at having IUI & if that is not suitable or if it doesn't work out we will then shift over to IVF.

My first Appointment is on 21st April, right before my birthday. We will then go from there as to when we will start our first round of IUI.

If anyon has advice, please don't be frightened to share! Every little bit helps right now :o

Hi kazandsteve.

IUI is Intra-Uterine Insemmination. Yes it is where you self-inject for a few days then have the insemmination procedure.
I have included an animation on my website socko.schwoit if u'd like to have a looksee

Ok... so last month I was placed on a cycle of 100mg Clomid whilst we awaited some test results. We obviously didn't fall pregnant & went back for our next appointment to get results & to find out what was next. Initially Prof Chapman said we would do 3 cycles of Clomid, so I wasn't surprised with what happened next.

We found out that I did indeed O on Clomid with my CD21 Progesterone BT showing healthy signs. However DF's test proved a factor we thought was an issue some time ago. He has Antibodies which deform & kill the swimmers. Poor lil fellas! Nothing can be done to "fix" this. Although there is still opportunity to fall pregnant, the chances are extremely low.
So now we are on our first cycle of IUI.
Our visit fell on CD2 so it was perfect! 3 days later we began the needles. I am currently on CD7. 2 more days to go before my first blood test. As it happens it falls upon the Tuesday after the Long Weekend which is so perfect considering we travel to Kogarah for the appointments LOL

Will keep posting along the way with our next steps. However keep an eye on my TTC Diary or my website if you'd like to keep track :bee:

P.S... Keep us posted Girls on how your progresses are! Please????

Im now 1 week past the IUI procedure. It took us 3 weeks of self injecting every morning to finally get to that day LOL

So now I am getting (since last Thursday 2dpo IUI) severe cramping, constant sore nipples, tiredness & even a little irritibility. I have 1 Pregnyl injection left to have on Thursday of which I have already had 2 since IUI. These are taken 3 days apart.

We are due to have a blood test next Wednesday to find out wether it was successful or not.

:fingerscrossed: Here's hoping! :fingerscrossed:

hi socko
goodluck with the injections

can i ask do they hurt?

iam still waiting to get my hsg test done hopefully on the 10th july
then iam still deciding on whether to start the ivi injections if the hsg test is all clear
or whether to go ahead and get a laprscopy done first
i have heard some good succes with a lap

with the injections
do u have to inject yourself before u start the iui injections?
and then how many iui injections do u have to have and how often?

are they just like little insulin needles

thanks for the info
