opinions please............

You have probably read my post the other day about doing a pos preg test. Well now im totally confused because the day i did the test it was about 1pm and i got a faint line. I did another one the next morning and it was negative.

I am now thinking im not pregnant and feel like such an idiot, i would really appreciate your opinions.

Did you use the same brand of test the second time round? Some tests are less sensitive than others?

Faint lines are generally accurate positives, I tested early and got a very faint line, it was slightly darker the next day and a blood test confirmed my pregnancy.

Test again tomorrow and I will :fingerscrossed: for you.

usually a positive result is never because of a faulty test only the neg. results, i guess in your situation a blood test would be best

okay, so when is af due? are you late?
it mite of been a bung test, i havnt heard of anyone getting a false positive before

the hcg doubles every 36-48hours, so test again tomorrow and take it from there...

Thanks for you replies. I did use the same brand of test. Af was due a over a week ago and i had some spotting but that is all. I am going to get a blood test done but cant get to the doctors until later in the week. Maybe it sounds a bit silly me asking, im very emotional at the moment.

yep, never heard of a false positive yet either, go get a blood test & :fingerscrossed: for you.

When I first tested I used fortel and got a neg- but when I retested with discover one step -I got a positive.....like someone else said, some are more sensitive thsan others. Have you retested since?

I'm thinking that probably your HCG levels were lower on the second for some reason - ie you'd drunk more water the day before and your urine was more diluted. Did you test at the same time of the day? Most preg tests these days say that you can test at any time of the day, but the HCG levels are at their highest first pee of the morning.

Don't stress too much, try to remember that if you get a positive, it is 99.9% likely that you are pregnant, whereas if you get a negative, it might just mean that the HCG levels weren't strong enough for the test to pick up on.

Try to test again in a day or two, first pee of the morning, and see what you get.

I got quite a few negative HPT's and a negative blood test then I finally got 2 positive HPT's went to the Dr and she did another HPT which came up negative and then had another blood test that came up positive!

Just keep persisting and you will have to get an accurate result soon!;)

Although most people recommend using first morning urine, for some 2nd morning or evening samples are better and stronger. I am one of those. Tested with FMU and neg, second and evening was positive, one can normally tell by the colour of the sample if it is a stronger sample.

has anyone been pregnant even if test had a faint line for about 3 seconds i like staring at the damned thing!) and then it disappeared? it was a VERY faint line, but im so confused!
