Hi to you all , I had a question, I had private health insurance so I had DS in a private hospital in Perth, when it came to do the new born hearing test ( while I was in hospital ) I was charged $60 - $70 can't quite remember, they told me that if I had of had my son on the public side it wouldn't of cost us a cent! Try and figure that one out!!! So is this something in WA or is it nationally? They try and encourage us to take out private health insurance then they charge us extra!!! I'm interested to know .

I was private in Qld and didn't have to pay anything for DD2 to get hers done.

are you sure that you can't claim it from medicare or your private health?

Wow!! I can't believe it. I definitly did pay and couldn't claim from either Medicare or HBF. I kept the receipt and claimed it with my tax ( only get 20% back after you have reached the $1500 mark ) thanks for your input.

That's weird.

I had one of my babies privately and one public - we weren't charged for either of them. I'm in QLD. Might be worth double checking?
