go lyell, i had my last bub there at least they can deal with most things- I work in a GP office in Gawler and constantly hear complaints about it - it is still so much a country hospital........ no anesthetist (sp?) well one that is on call and never makes it on time...... Lucky the local GP are well trained and often pick up the things missed by the hospital

Sorry I know this is an old thread, but Lyell Mac has a really good homebirth / midwifery group practice, probably the best in the state. As long as you fit in the "normal" parameters (ie don't gestate more than 42 weeks and bub is vertex) it's a really good option for women wanting a normal vaginal birth.

Sorry to disagree - I had my son at GHS in July and got nothing but the best care, better care than when I was at a private hospital as private patient..as for being a so called"country hospital" aren't country folk all the more accommodating. I needed an unplanned C - section and I didn't have to wait for the
anaesthesist - each to their own I know - but I had no problems at all , the midwifes are great, and continue to be great even when you see them while they are doing there grocery shopping...
Good luck with Lyell Mac
